Most Depressing Band / Song(s)

if its out of those i'd have to go for dashboard and coldplay infact, good god by the end of one of their albums you'll be looking for ways to kill your self!

Are you kidding me?, ok computer and amnesiac are extreamly depressing, and siamese dream and mellon collie have some of the gloomiest lyrics ever, even when the songs sound upbeat, and Alice In Chains are one of the most depressing grunge banRAB, which is saying a lot. =)

If you have never cried to music then you are a wimp who has never expressed his/her emotions. I don't cry because of the lyrics or the voice, but the overall feeling the music gives off.

The fact that DCFC have 11 votes is... Rather depressing, isn't it? They sort of pride themselves on tugging on your emotions with limited accuracy...

If any Radiohead song qualified for depressing, I'd say "Kid A" works best. Seems very claustrophobic and trapped in a pretty desperate manner.

Lately, "Katy Song" by Red House Painters works wonders. Some of its lyrics seems pretty boiler-plate out of context ("Without you, what does my life amount to?") but it's genuinely sad, which I like.

the song thar depresses me the most is love will tear us apart by joy division. its not so much the song, but the meaning behind it and the sound of his voice- you can tell there is something very much wrong with him just by listening to the chorus.

I wouldn't say Coldplay are depressing-they don't write depressing songs, it's mainly Chris Martin's voice that makes them sound gloomy. I can't believe they are in second place in the poll. I would say Classical Composer's. I can never listen to them, they really put you down in the dumps.

I don't have a problem with Coldplay... probably one of my favorite "pop" banRAB of our times, I guess, but their music by far is not terribly dark or depressing.... I find it seems to be my "uplifting" music, really...

Summer music is always happy. My playlist for instant happiness:

Lovin' Spoonful - Summer in the City
Mongo Jerry - In the Summertime
Genesis - I Can't Dance
The Who - The Seeker
Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry be Happy
Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon
Cream - CrossroaRAB
The Velvet Underground - Sweet Jane :)

I still don't see how Leonard Cohen is the most depressing artist, most of his music is pretty upbeat.

It's future first of all. And from a technical proficiency standpoint, Iron Maiden **** all over Coldplay. From an originality/innovative standpoint... Iron Maiden gets the prize for that one too.

And yes "OMGZ OpInIonz0red", I thought that bit of immaturity would appeal to your immature taste and typing. I don't expect to be growing anymore than I already am now, which is an acceptable height, unless you mean mature in a mental standpoint which I'm certain I don't need to. Thanks.

I voted for Coldplay. I am not usually one to get involved with the negative posts, but this isn't really negative. Depression is a valid emotion, or state of mind, same as hate, love, angst, etc.

My wife enjoys Coldplay. She says they're relaxing. It sounRAB like one long song to me.
