Most Depressing Band / Song(s)

bollocks! when i can't distinguish the difference between two different songs by a band then they're depressing, the most uninteresting band EVER! although i dislike nirvana too :) (and im very aware that all this band hatings not going to make me very popular) if you put on a coldplay album after about 2 minites i'd forget it was there and it would become light background noise, but really crappy background noise, the kind that makes you want to peck out your eyes, can't stand them and refuse to accept that there's anything decent about them.

From this poll I chose Death Cab, but mostly because it has accidently been playing when I was in a depressed mood. Not because they are necessarily depressing.

I would say The Used are a pretty downer band.. Same with AFI.. their official Fan Club is called the Despair Faction.. I couldnt rightly say though.

"thank you for bringing laughter back into my life"...you will be mentioned in my prayers haha
don't get me wrong...but there is something wrong with his voice...and i can't close that window...i need help!! now!!

I find REM very depressing. Michael Stipe himself actually is depressing. Man that guy puts me down every time. I don't care what all the critics say but that's why I don't like that band: depressing! And they take it all so dead seriously. C'm on! You're making music! That's supposed to be fun! At least in my world. And I don't even find some of the banRAB on that list depressing at all!

*Sigh* Maybe there are people in this world who think different to you. Its far-fetched I know, but its something to think about. There are obviously aspects of Radiohead that are depressing (to some people).

Alice In Chains... Althought they are brilliant musicians, Layne had his demons and he wrote about them. Down in a Hole is the one song I ALWAYS listen to when I am down and out.

I'd have to put Jeff Buckely on this list - I love Jeff ("Grace" is one of my all-time favorite albums), but some of his songs could push your average music listener into deep depression. Ones that are especially dour include; "Lover You Should've Come Over", "Mojo Pin", and Drown in My Own Tears"

Smashing Pumpkins are quite depressive I suppose, Mayonaise is a sad song althogh completely brilliant at the same time. I like how a few of their songs are about how bad things in life are.
