Michael McIntyre - Where has this annoying cretin suddenly come from ?

I completely agree. It's so true, my brother has two man drawers with every single item McIntyre listed. Take away menus, phone, foreign currency, the lot :D
 
One question to all those who don't rate Michael McIntyre.
If he's so bad, why does he always (or 90% of the time) appear funnier than the other comedians on his road-show ?
Does he insist they use crap material just to make him appear good ?
 
Just because someone is popular and sells shed loaRAB of DVRAB/Tickets doesn't mean that they are either any good or that people must be forced to like them as they are popular. I mean look at some of the sh!t banRAB these days that sell tons of CRAB and play to sell out arenas

Everyone is entitled to like/dislike who they want but personally I find him extremely extremely unfunny but I am sure others would not like some of the comedians I like.
 
This guy is a total ar$e. About as funny as toothache. His jokes are poor and overall his style is a poor attempt to rip off Jimmy Carr.
 
I'd say he's funny. At least he's got some decent material.

The only 'comedian' I can think of who makes me want to sandpaper my eyeballs and pour bleach into my ears is Lee Mack, I cannot believe he keeps getting booked for things.

Also that bloke who took over from Dave Spikey on 8OOTC - he's nowhere near as funny, and the show would be much better if he just reigned it in.
 
I didn't say he was good, I said that people are going to see him because they think he's good, there's a difference.

Suggesting he sold all those DVD's and tickets because the media say he's good is ridiculous.
 
He is, possibly, the best comedian we have in the UK today. Absolutely hilarious material, spectacularly delivered. Only Izzard at his best can even come close.
 
totally disagree on your comment about him being unfunny.

IMO he is by far the funniest comedian around and even better, he constantly changes his material.
His 'Live' DVD last year was 50 times better than the likes of Frankie Boyle, Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr etc. A very talented man.
 
He was probably one of the funniest guests they've ever had. He had Jeremy in stitches.

His dad also wrote for the Kenny Everett Show which is one of the funniest shows ever, so it must've rubbed of.
 
Jimmy Carr? They're both male, with dark hair... hmm, that's it for similarities as fas as I can see.

I find Michael McIntrye very funny most of the time, and I like Jimmy Carr too.
 
He's been one of the most popular and well known comedians in the country since 2006. He's worked for years before that to get into this position.

I don't see how being old would qualify you more to present a stand up comedy show.
 
He comes across as quite a likeable chap to me but I do think he's very over-exposed. There seems to be a pattern among celebrity agents where they will milk their clinets for all their worth; a while ago it was John Barrowman who was never off our screens, then it was Graham Norton, Horne and Corden, and now McIntyre.

It's frustrating and tiresome. I wish these agents would learn to moderate a little more carefully because it's far better to leave people wanting more than to force-feed them until they are too full.

He has been 4 years at the top which is nothing in terms of longevity really and is being positioned as a sort of 'head comedian' when placed in this role.

I did not say that old is a qualification for presenting such a show.

I used the worRAB 'older established comedian' in that being established will necessarily be a function of time and therefore age.

MM's appointment in such a role smacks of the faddish nature of commisioning editors as pointed out above by others. When you are 'in', you get the gig almost automatically.

I'd watch just as much if it said Comedy RoaRABhow, regardless of having an MM as the presenter. In fact, I find using funny comedians as presenters a waste.

There will come a point when he will not be in our faces quite so much and this may well have very little to do with if he is still funny or not.

Again, I must re-iterate that I am a MM fan. I would also re-iterate that if I were him, I'd be taking the work. Who wouldn't?

But such is the synical/satirical nature of comedy, he is being set up for others to take the mick, as indeed Jon Culshaw did of him very amusingly. And I would hope that MM would laugh heartily at such renditions of him.

Quite against the theme of this thread really, I am actually against MM having his name splashed across the show because as a fan, this will, if anything hasten the point where we see him less, ironically. Although, again, I know there are those above who will be happy with that outcome.
