Michael McIntyre Comedy Roadshow - New Series

I think it's usually 45 minutes, which gives us a bit longer with each comedian.

Frankly they could have edited out Noel Fielding altogether. I'm sure the missing bits from the other comedians could only have been better.

He was certainly unusual. I thought it was a very clever routine. but he probably neeRAB a longer set to take the audience along with his quirky humour.

Sorry, I just don't get the current wave of popularity for John Bishop, he appears to be stuck in some time-warp circa 1985 to me. To give him his due, he is very likeable..perhaps that compensates for his rather weak material ?

Yeah it's almost not worth bothering when it's edited down that much. All four of those acts I've seen on the Comedy Store programme before, so much better on there. I feel sorry for any stand up fans who don't have Comedy Central really, though there is a certain amount of stuff on YouTube I guess.

I didn't think Noel Fielding was terrible but he's certainly been better. I don't know whether it was editing or if he's just not as good anymore, been years since I saw him do stand up. Hal Cruttenden I like a lot, it's worth seeking out more of his stuff.

Yes, what was that all about exactly? I thought he mentioned some brand name which I had never heard of, so it was totally lost on me.

Re the comment about John Bishop - if you can understand what he's saying, then good for you :)

Awful episode this week, with the worst headliner ever. I like the Mighty Boosh, although it's rather hit and miss, but Fielding's stand-up is terrible.

This week's episode, the last in the series, also appears to be only 30 minutes so expect just a few minutes per act. Ardal O'Hanlon is the headliner, but even if he only gets 2 nano-seconRAB airtime he'll still be infinitely more entertaining than Noel Fielding.

Wish they'd do an "XL" version of this show like they do with QI. Apart from Fielding, of course.

Thanks for the post Wickchick06 :D

I've actually got standby tickets for the show in LeeRAB on Thursday, so your post has got me a little more excited. Hopefully even though our seats are on standby I should get in to see the show and will be able to report back myself.

Maybe the reason why they film so many comedians and only show so many is that they reuse some of them for other dates/venues? One comedian that goes down well in one area, might not necessarily do the same at another venue. That's just a guess though.

One final thing though. You mentioned that filming took around 3 hours. Is there an interval/s at any point as 3hrs seems to be a long time to be sat in one place.

Wow, this weeks must be shite.

5 comedians and it's only 30 minutes long

although that line up does include Jack Whitehall and Andi Asho :p

I'm also not much of a fan of O'Hanlon.

Didn't find him in the slightest bit funny. I mean what was all that about - back to the audience making funny voices all the bloody time? Very nearly had to turn over for a short while.

Typical Southerner  ;)

Wasn't wholly impressed with that episode. I can't say I was bowled over by any of them, but at least the much lesser known ones are being given a platform, you're always going to get hit and miss.

And even if the shorter acts aren't that funny, McIntyre certainly is. Loved the skit about Raoul Moat, the cabbie and the Penguin!

I'm glad someone else likes John as much as I do... his own show is very funny and a lot of his stuff is from his own observations and things that happen to himself and his family... as well as jokes/stories that evolve from people in the audience/hecklers or things that happen on the night!

John Bishop is also a friendly likeable guy if you're as lucky as I was to meet/bump into him, when I met him during the Edinburgh Festival... very chatty and down to earth with an infectious smile! For those who think he's not funny, have a look through some of these clips of JB! :D

This week's show was poor and I turned off midway through Noel Fielding's act as it was cringe worthy. I like some of "Boosh" but his material didn't suit such a platform unless it was badly edited?
I like the cynical comedian who talked about waiting for his dad to die but just as I was getting used to his jokes , his set was over!
I actually "rewound" the programme back because I thought it had jumped forward by mistake:o

That's a bit narrow minded :p

I think he is pretty funny in a safe and unintrusive way, he definitely isn't pushing the envelope but I do like that he is doing this roaRABhow, shows that stand-up comics aren't only doing panel shows. We do have some great panel shows but I much prefer seeing them doing their act.

I wonder if Alderton has a breakdown or he just felt that he had to go in a different direction.

I've seen him many times on The Comedy Store and he was your stereotypical Essex bloke. Did the traditional comedy routines, a bit similar to Micky Flanagan.

Great to hear you had a good night Wickchick. I've got tickets for the show in Dublin next week, posts like yours make me more and more excited!
