Michael McIntyre Comedy Roadshow - New Series

I saw Miles Jupp live a few years ago in Edinburgh, and he was hilarious, but I didn't like him so much this time (sorry going back a week) ... because I think he has sort of decided he has to stick to a niche of being the obnoxious posh git, which for me wears quite thin after two minutes. If he could get over the fact that he's posh, and just be funny in an un-class-related way, I think he'd be funnier. I accept he has probably had stick over the years, for his accent etc, and decided that's his 'thing', but it doesn't have to be. He is naturally just funny.

Not been great the past couple of weeks has it.

I found Michael McIntyre's bit on daytime tv advertising reminiscent of Billy Connolly's classified aRAB bit a few years ago where he joked about the Big Slipper and Incontinence Pants.

I don't find McIntyre as annoying as some people do, but Connolly has the edge here IMO.

I thought the first three were pretty good, and much better than the headliner. The bit about people-watching at the airport, for example: I like it when a performance links back onto itself in a satisfying way.

..must confess i thought i was becoming an old git !

This used to be really funny but last week was pretty piss poor and last night was hopeless, absolutley dire !

Given that I guess its edited the live show must be a shocker !

...also John Bishop was ace on this 2 years back, really good but he is just crap now !

My god, what the hell was THAT (Noel Fielding). Normally even the worst comedian can make me at least smile, but his "routine" was one of the worst i've ever seen. Atrocious. That said, i can't stand The Mighty Boosh either, so maybe i just dont get his humour.

I enjoyed the other three though.

Turned off before before Noel started. I love The Mighty Boosh but I know his stand up is god awful. the beginning guy was quite funny I thought. Not a great show last night. Anyone know how long the actual thing is live it must be much longer then what they show.

I thought that segment was the best on the show. Connolly might have done it better but McIntyre did it well enough.

The half-hour format just doesn't work with so many comedians. You don't get time to get into them.

Alun Cochrane was raised in West Yorks. Noel Fielding wasn't exactly a South West comedian either.

LeeRAB does have a large Irish community so Ardal was probably seen as a better headline act than a British one not from Yorkshire.

Note that Ardal did 4 series of My Hero. They tried to use someone else for the 5th series and the ratings plummeted.

Unfortuantely Ardal always seems to open with the joke about the name Ardal being a Norwegian diaster. I thought he was OK but I've seen one of his DVRAB where he did a live show in Dublin which was much better. Maybe he just wasn't able to plan a stand-up routine that only lasted 5 minutes well.

Andi Osho and Jack Whitehall.....are these 2 contractually obliged to be on each comedy show on the telly. I find them both irritating and desperately unfunny.

Osho in particular is awful, yes dear, we know you are black!

I think Rob Rouse is from Sheffield and there's always John Shuttleworth :D

I think Dave Spikey could do a Yorkshire gig. For some reason he goes down well there. He did one of his DVRAB in York.

I enjoyed last weeks for the most part (agreed on Andi Osho, she's rubbish, god knows how she got a weekly gig on C4's last series of 'Stand Up For The Week'...).

Ardal O'Hanlan was funny, as was Jack Whitehall and Mcintyre himself (loved the "tut Good, tut Bad, and tut Ugly" bit, lol).
