What does being dirt poor have to do with not knowing it's wrong to cross the border illegally?

As for your "shell casing" argument ...

The official, who agreed to discuss the matter only if not quoted by name, said the video also shows what seem to be four Mexican law enforcement officers driving to the edge of the dry but muddy bed of the Rio Grande, walking across to the U.S. side, picking up an undetermined object and returning to Mexico near the area where the boy's body was. Like their U.S. counterparts, Mexican law officers are not authorized to cross the border without permission.

Don't know about you, but that sounds like they went into the US took the shell casing, went back across the border, and planted false evidence next to the body.


And before you get on about how wide this "bridge is" ... One suspected illegal immigrant was detained on the levee on the U.S. side, the FBI said in a statement. Another Border Patrol agent arrived on the concrete bank where the now-dry, 33-feet (10-meter) wide Rio Grande is, and detained a second suspect. Other suspects ran back into Mexico and began throwing rocks, the FBI said.

And if you look at the photo where the body is, he isn't "right near the EDGE where it starts, he is surrounded by concrete, so he is at best, more in the center. Hence my "20 foot" comment.

If you are being fired on everything changes. I wonder if local mexicans were the ones seen with the rifles. The kids would have the right to shoot to kill after they were fired on. You want a fucking war, be a dumbass on a bike shooting kids in their homeland.
 
People are suggesting the location of this event has a history of officers receiving head injuries.

The appropriate gear might be a helmet, which protects the head from impacts in general. Knowing there is a chance of rocks being thrown, perhaps a riot shield?

Maybe a car instead of bicycles for patrolling?
 
If my first born was smuggling shit into another country and then attacking their border patrol after they detained 2 of his partners in crime, I'd personally kill the little fuck.

It's not a quick kill or the most damage, but has been said to be the most reliable stopper. You could miss a headshot=useless. It's the shock of a gut shot compared to a bullet passing through the chest...aiming lower stops mobility. I've never done it; many have...and that's how the west was won.
 
so what this has come down to is a bunch of entitled pussies that were never disciplined or held accountable getting mad because cops treated a 15 year old smuggler with a record as a criminal after he and his criminal friends tried to attack them and he got shot for it.

Here's the issue as far as OffTopic goes: you don't KNOW what really happened. We are just reading sketchy conflicting reports, but you are one of those who jumps to defend "excellent police work" after women gets shot in the head at close range with a tear gas launcher in Gaza, or one kid gets conveniently double-tapped through the brain while standing with a bunch of kids throwing stones.

You hear a lot of: the little prick deserved it, and death prevented him from breeding! The story goes: the kid went to the bridge to have lunch with his brother who worked near by. Or the story goes: the kid was a smuggler who got caught on the bridge at lunch-time.

A) if you are mobbed by a bunch kids throwing stones you dont waste time and bullets on one specific kid requiring a double head shot. You try to pull off as many gut-shots on as many kids as quickly as possible as if your life depends on it.

B) saying the shooter was a bad shot does not apply this time.
 
Mark, the issue of shooting to 'wound' was worked out years ago. Mostly because of legal liabilities arising from maiming a person, or flat-out missing when aiming for an extremity.

The idea of lethal force, today, is that it is potentially lethal. This does not equate to 'shoot to kill', but rather 'shoot for center mass to ensure a hit, and know that this may kill the person'.

you're just spinning the facts to validate your agenda. the kid did not get shot because the officers werent wearing certain gear, the kid got killed because he assaulted the police officer.

No amount of spin will take the blame off of the kids actions the justifiably got his shot and killed.
