Metallica

Oh yeah? Was it good?

I've seen em a few times now but last time was in March with The Sword and Machinehead. I would love to see Gojira though.

well, st anger wasn't all that good. i do know a few fans though that think it's their best album bar none. it's supposed to have a more innovative groove running through it than on two or three previous efforts, with a more epic sweep. add to that that the bass was done by one of the masters, and a few have claimed that you cant go wrong. but i prefer the black album,

Have you heard their earlier works? The black album represents a marked transition to a different type of sound which the band explored.

it does, iTunes is certainly responsible for the decline of the record label. since 2004 iTunes sales have risen dramatically while CD sales have plunged up to half what they were selling at their 2000 apex. record labels (and artists) make a significantly larger profit from CD sales; only about 8-12 cents per dollar ever sees the artist through online distributors. compared to about a 60% cut that goes to record labels from CD sales, yeah, it's a pretty big difference.

i wouldn't suggest that iTunes is the sole culprit for the losses which the big four have been posting the past decade, but it's certainly part of the zeitgeist. the widespread migration towarRAB a more mobile community in the past ten years has allowed technologically-savvy companies like Apple to take advantage of the continuing trend.

So, was your comment about AC/DC banging out the same stuff for decades a negative assesment of the band or not? I'm starting to think it wasn't but thats how I read it.

Regardless, I may have disagreed with some of the things you have said but I have rarely had an intelligent argument with people on this site who have the relatively low post count that you do. Stick around.

i don't get this, what did he do wrong again? I think he brings a lot of comedy value to a band who, let's face it, were always a bit juvenile whilst taking themselves too seriously

Plus the Napster debate was always ridiculous, if you're a musician with that much marketing power you are going to protect your interests, and it was all in vain anyway because the industry is dying on it's arse

i didnt say they arent better than motor head im just saying their stuff from the 80s is better, MoP, ride the lightning, kill em all. load is horrible compared to those, black album isnt great besides for of wolf and man, sad but true and nothing else matters, enter sandman is VERY OVERPLAYED and VERY OVERRATED.

That is true. But he has done a lot to soil there reputation. And his drumming leaves a lot to be desired. I would like to maybe here what they could do with a new one. But like i said. I really think they need to call it quits. Death Magnetic is ok so why not go out with a decent album? Im sick of them saying "OH this new record is going to be master of puppets 2 yadda yadda yadda"

I would not mind maybe hearing some side projects. I just think Metallica has run its course. But more power to them i guess for keeping on.

I don`t think that their initial achievements are being brought into question as most people on here tend to have an appreciation of their work prior to the Black Album.
