Metallica

I don't hate the genre. I love a lot of punk music. What I hate is the status and the hypocrisy.

Punk is a genre by the broadest dinition. IMO there are two kinRAB of genres.

-Genres of specific sound and style, which most genres fall into.
-Genres of philosophy and approach, which is what punk, prog and alternative fall into when going by their broadest definitions.

Master Of Puppets blew my balls off when it first came out and a listen a few days confirmed to me that it's still one of the best Metal albums ever made. That riff in Orion is sublime.

I have incalculable respect for Metallica. I think that in a stuffed genre like Thrash, they did things differently, and better even, and that made the genre popular. The reasons I posted above are what I've heard are criticism against Metallica. I think its a load of ****.

...And Justice For All's crappy production made it fiercer to me than Master of Puppets, and the Black album was just what they needed to stay relevant. I think that they are survivors in a genre that is often misunderstood (and thanks to all its ridiculous subgenres, ridiculed).

clearly there alot of fans Of Metallica. How many have this album?

Metallica`s self-titled album aka `Black` album has sold just 3000 more units than Shania Twain`s `Come On Over` to become the biggest selling album of the SounRABcan era.

Black' has now sold 15,490,000 units since 1991 according to Nielsen SounRABcan. ?Come On Over' has sold 15,487,000.

With just two more weeks of sales figures to go until the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, Shania or her label Universal could easily go out and buy up a few thousand copies to end the decade in front. Will they?

Metallica's 'Black' has on August 13, Shania Twain 'Come 1991. On Over' was released on Noveraber 4, 1987. SounRABcan started tracking sales on March 1, 1991.

Can we at least agree that these lyrics are laughably bad:

No more!
The craps rolls out your mouth again
Havent changed, your brain is still gelatin

Which are badass.

The solo in enter sandman is still mindblowing. And the riff on load, explain to me how they aren't better than Motorhead?

Alright thanks for the information. So how is Death Magnetic? I heard that it sounded reminiscent to the material off of And Justice For All... or maybe they were trying to get to that sort of sound. Is it worth getting?

Thats why I butted in, I had a feeling you were referring to the genre while pahuuuta was more just looking for something to describe the album. Hard rock is a terrible name for a genre to be fair as just by name alone you could throw so much music under that urabrella.

Anyway, yes The Black Album isnt Hard-rock like the banRAB I mentioned before are Hard-rock but it was the start of the transition into a new direction for Metallica. It was eased in, I think there are a few tracks on there that are still quite heavy but its a rock record.

Load was a pretty decent record, but it picked up where the Black Album left off in terms of veering away from the more thrash orientated sound they had adopted previously. That has a lot to do with why it's criticised. It's a departure just like the Black Album but without any really big anthems and singles.

It's a decent record, but it's just not up to the standard of their first 3 or 4 recorRAB in my opinion.

I personally will never hate Metallica or turn my back on them completely. They had such a massive bearing on my life both musically and socially in the 80's that I have put them on a pedestal that they should have never really been on in the first place.

Uh...no? I'm just sharing my opinion. My dad is a huge Metallica fan and I just couldn't find myself enjoying their music much, except for a few songs.

Can't even post an opinion without the lame troll comment.
