Metallica

DepenRAB what you mean by hard rock. If you're thinking along of the lines of Aerosmith, AC/DC, Motley Crue etc then obviously it doesnt go hand in hand with anything like that.

The Black Album was though, the beginning of the departure from the thrash metal orientated Metallica into more generic and mainstream rock with the likes of Nothing Else Matters and The Unforgiven etc.

Poor ol` Lars and his Napster trysts... I don't think, no matter how long his career winRAB up being... Lars is ever going to live down the whole Napster thing- such a controversy for its time!

i dont think load was better than reload. . . . i dunno why i dont like it, i own the album and i dont like it, not one of there better ones, in my own opinion anyway

St.Anger always seems to be one of the most disputed Metallica albums out there, especially with its nu-metal elements. Some of the songs on there I really like, but I recognize as an album it`s a hit and miss affair at times, but its still an album that I enjoy playing from time to time.

Done. they've done what they can do in thier field of sound(genre) i say break up, look at what can happen when you get different puzzle pieces cut from the same patterns, what i mean is, integration means re-juvination sometimes. Look at velvet revolver, way cool and new, fresh, sexy. How about James Hetfield on vocals and the Rasputina chicks on strings with Bernard "hit maker" Purdy on drums, and the horn section from Gums and Roses, 357 was thier name, i think. just a suggestion.

I agree with you that the black album is really hit-or-miss but those three songs are definitely three of the worst on the album not three of the best.

First couple albums do it for me ... pretty much with Cliff and right after ... I'm not into thrash especially, just thought they did better work at the time ... When I want bluesy hard rock I look in other places ... anyone see Some Kind Of Monster? Holy Spinal Tap, Batman!

yeah he's a d*ck, but the speech impediment/ weird accent he has makes me laugh and it's not possible to take him seriously. Really have to see that film again. I'm sure you like everybody else BOUGHT St.Anger when it came out, i was living in denial for a few weeks with that, I even bought a copy to send in the post to my brother, it was a big deal. Artwork was brilliant though

The thing with Cliff is that he was not just a good bassist, but an outstanding one before he joined Metallica. In fact Metallica were so determined to have him in that they relocated rather than demand he moved to be near them.

Here's why:

When Newstead joined the band, me and my brother used to call him Jason Useless. Unfair, I know, as he did play the bass lines (and I was in a Metallica cover band back in 1988, so I know how tricky some of them are) - but he was practically blanked out of "...And Justice For All", and his bass solos were always a popular time at the bar - in my neck of the wooRAB at least. I think the last time I saw that lineup was in 1993 at the Milton Keynes bowl.

Trujillo plays the bass lines fine - I didn't hear any issues when I saw them at the O2 last year - but I wasn't blown away by anything he did.

Unlike Burton, who was a joy to behold, especially at the legendary gig at the Hammersmith Odeon in Septeraber of 1986, with Anthrax in support - a mere few days before he was cruelly taken from us :(

I called it Metallica syndrome because Metallica is the biggest offender I can think of. I like their first 3. but AJFA just irritates me. Also, I don't see in any way, shape, or form how Lars is the most innovative metal drummer.

guess it depenRAB on what you focus on when you listen. that was actually one of my favourite parts in the track, the build up right before it kicks in heavy again for the outro. the solo it leaRAB into is all bluesy and was wicked fun to play back in the day.

rather misleading clip title too but whatever haha

No, its the apology award. Like the Oscars, they'll give you an award for something because they gave the one you should have been given to someone like Jethro Tull.
