Mamma Mia!

Yeah that's how I see it. TDK is a very good film but it's not the type I'd watch again and again. Whereas with MM I've seen it several times and would watch it again (and again...:o).

I saw them both on the day TDK previewed. MM cheered me up, lol.

I'm a straight guy and I hate musicals with a passion and decided to take my family to see this.
The cinema was full of middle aged women and even though I love Abba I was dreading this.:eek:
However I had a great time, can't remember when I had so much fun at the cinema! (well maybe on the backrow when I was a bit younger lol)
It's not the best film but you can't help being swept away by the sheer energy.
Julie Walters is great in this as are most of the cast, the fact they can't sing for toffee adRAB to the charm.
I've seen much better films in my life but this is the best 'feel good' film I've seen.
I wanted to watch it again straight away.
So all you laRAB (or lasses) that don't fancy it, just give it a go,I had a great time.
I've never seen an audience cheer at a film.
I've never been to a film as well after it's been out for nearly 3 weeks sold out midweek, think it's gonna be on for a long time.
Well I'm gonna see it again (and again) and until then listen to it on my mp3 player!:):):):):)

I saw this today, and really enjoyed it.

I thought Batman was the best thing I'd see at the cinema this year, but Mamma Mia was actually better IMHO ... It was quite lean (at 95 mins or so), but packed a lot in, and was effortlessly feelgood. Even Pierce's singing (my ears, my ears!) didn't ruin it! ;):p

It was wonderful, and uplifting. Batman was fabulous, but very heavy and depressing really.

I think Mamma Mia is a great film to see at the cinema, the sound was wonderful. Thinking about getting the soundtrack now :o ... and will look forward to the DVD. Very good.

I loved the credits!

think people who critizize mama mia are missing the point it isnt the sound of music and pierce brosnan cant sing so what! its a fun film that doesnt take itself too seriously and at the end of the day you come out of the cinema feeling good in these depressing times!... remmember the full monty! after princess dianna died it lifted the mood of the nation so if a film can do that then it gets my vote

Lol.

I think it's also a case of choosing Abba's USA hits instead of UK hits, hence some of the songs in the final cut are a little less well known than the cut ones.

Well, we've written time and time again in this thread why we enjoy this movie.. but I don't mind saying it again.

It's heartwarming. I really don't agree that the plot is one dimensional. The contrast and yet similarities between the two sets of girls (i.e. Donna/Tanya/Rosie and Sophie/Ali/Lisa) shows you that age is no barrier to love, life, etc. etc. Okay, it's a bit feministic, and I'm a guy.. but I still loved that comparison which was brought to life in the film.

I don't think that Harry JUST realised he was gay.. the fact that his life lacked spontaneity says a lot for his character - he wasn't prepared to take the plunge and accept his feelings or whatever, yadda yadda; I think you understand where I'm coming from.

Watched the film for the first time on DVD last night - seen it six times now.
I really enjoyed all the Behind The Scenes stuff, but thought the majority of the Deleted Scenes were poo, so I was glad they cut them all out.

It was really interesting to hear them talk about getting the actors to sing, and how they all remained totally professional throughout. How they didn't want to do the record and then just mime in the film, and they wanted to sing live throughout filming, which is such a credit.

And then there's Amanda, need I say more?

CONGRATULATIONS to Mamma Mia! for the BAFTA nominations.
Fingers crossed they can win!!

A great film, the Feelgood Factor. We managed to squeeze into Poole having bought the tickets online.
All the other cinemas here were sold out; not surprised. We haven't stopped singing. Or watching bits, or genuine ABBA on Youtube.
BTW, had you realised the film is now a gay icon?

Who else spotted Bjorn playing the old joanna on the jetty?

Lol the rabroad article got me all hyped up because I thought they were working on unreleased figures or something before I realised it was "British films" so no new information giving we knew that in this thread two days ago! Lol

GET SET FOR NUMBER ONE EVERYBODY! :D:D

Come on!!! you cant compare mamma mia to TDK!! in either content or awarRAB they are 2 tottally differant movies ...i think they are both excellent films in their own categorys...the fact that the critics wernt keen on mm is academic when the people who go to see these films are voting with their feet! and mm has taken

i tottally agree! i think they should have delayed the dvd release aswell! it would have been in universal studios interests to push it towarRAB the number one spot paticullay as they are so close and many people who would have seen the film at the cinema would not see it( either for the first time or again) because of the forthcoming dvd release !a bit of an own goal there !!.ive noticed there will be selected cinema showings of the film after 24th of november and also special showings in december and janurary but itll need much more to get past the titanic total ...i hope it does it!

Nope, they come on here for very different reasons ;)

There's about 4 people who have posted on this thread who haven't enjoyed it, which is fair enough, why they feel they have to keep on coming back to pretty much an entire thread of Mamma Mia lovers is the real mystery. They should post their opinions once and then reply to people who have replied to those opinions. There's no need to keep on coming back, again and again and laying into the film.
