That episode was the best ever, as good as people said it was. :)

My only quibble was the vision of Anna standing with the suitcase. In any other TV show I found have found it corny. Here, it was moving... but, I still thought, surely you don't need a suitcase when you go to the next world. All you need is two coins for the ferryman.
 
If Mad Men goes to Sky, it won't be interrupted by adverts. It'll play on a new premium pay-channel, along with all the titles Sky has bought from HBO.

Buy the DVRAB - a much cheaper option.

Or look into other options ... ;)
 
I thought Betty's clothes and hair looked too Lady Bird Johnson and made her look older. She is dressing like a politician's wife. I also thought Henry's mother didn't look that much older than Henry.;)

I didn't understand who the guy was with Peggy when she went to see Don. I suppose we'll find out who he is soon.

a very interesting first episode, though not as strong as the opening episode of Season 3.
 
My Sky Box died on me and has been replaced. All programs on my planner vanished. The only one I can't find is Mad Men.
Please can anyone tell me if the current series has ended and if possible if any more are planned.
 
Exactly when Anna persuaded her sister? to let her niece stay with them, I was like, noooooooo!!!!:eek: It was almost like Anna wanted Don to 'get on well' with her niece!.

Poor Joan and her 'boy' husband, he just looks so young to me!

I think that line was quite deliberately written so you could interpret it two ways.

He *could* be referring to gays, but then why would that one incident cause Don to make a sweeping, generalized statement like that? Not in his character.

On the other hand, it could also refer to the people in general around him at work who all seem to be messing him around endlessly (Roger, Peggy, Connie, the young creatives, the issue over the contract). The whole ep and some of the previous ones show a build up of frustration he has with people at the agency.

When I think about it, I go for the latter, as I don't see Don making generalizations like that about a whole group, based on one incident he's just heard about.
 
Just caught up on last week's episode - one of the best in the show's history. Wonderful acting from all and the tension in the Don/Betty scenes was so high - especially knowing that the teacher was outside in the car and could knock the door at any moment.

Poor Joan. I wonder if by joining the army she might yet escape the husband if he went to Vietnam ;)
 
It's interesting reading people's different takes on the show, and gives food for thought. Initially I was baffled also about Don's remark "You people" and wondered if he was referring to homosexuals, but that didn't sit right with his character, as Don hasn't been morally judgmental about people. He has his own secrets and is quite laissez-faire about people and life.

On reflection, I don't think he meant that at all. I feel diary_room caught Don's inference in that Don was exasperated by his co-workers as there have been several incidents lately of things going wrong. To him, it was another mess-up by one of the group and he had to clear up it all up yet again - You people keep screwing-up and I have to make it all better.
 
I think they have a valid point. While we're at it, I've noticed most episodes of Taggart and A Touch of Frost seem to feature people being murdered, and nearly episode of the Bill seems to depict crimes being committed.

What kind of message does that send out???
 
Nope! But they wouildn't dare, would they? I feel like Joan is woman who could go toe to toe with Don and no messing.

The lawnmover was both horrific and funny in equal measure. I felt sick watching the cleaners/janitors cleaned up, though - agree with Harry there! Actually, when all the blood sturpt on Ken, Harry et al, somehow a really stupid thought flashed through my mind, "wow, that's a lot of mud". Then I saw the foot. Word assocation, I guess :rolleyes:

A stunning episode, I agree. Wanted it to go on and on and on and.........

PS I'm falling in love with Peggy. Someone pull me back from the brink before I try to climb into the TV, Aha style.

PPS Isn't it amazing what a clean, new white shirt will do for you?
