I think all TVs are worthless when a commercial comes on. HDTV is worthless when all the programming isn't digital.
Seeing as I only watch one show a night, on average, on TV, why bother with HDTV? If I got cable I'd watch more TV and watch less movies and play less games. When I come home I'll play a game for 3 to 4 hours, then throw in a movie. Why bother with network broadcasting when most of it is either reality shows at night or infomercials in the morning? Why bother with cable if I first have to pay $45 before I can get digital, and the digital channels are not the same channels on the non-digital channels?
Yes, I'll probably end up getting an HDTV within the next 3 to 5 years. But I don't think that they're worth it at the present. If my HDTV only does 1080p at 24 or 30HZ and the PS3 only does 1080p at 60HZ, will I be able to see the movie? Is there any video degradion? I'm waiting for the laser TVs to come out next year. If my old HDTV doesn't do 720p, and the PS3 down-converts to 480p, which is worthless, the TV or the PS3?
