LOL @ the idea that HDTV isnt needed in gaming v.Wiifanboys

The argument is MOST don't have HDTV. And in 2006 that is true, but doesn't look like it will be for long.

A PS3 and a 360 should be played on an HDTV. But the Wii really doesn't need it to be enjoyed at full potential

I think all TVs are worthless when a commercial comes on. HDTV is worthless when all the programming isn't digital.

Seeing as I only watch one show a night, on average, on TV, why bother with HDTV? If I got cable I'd watch more TV and watch less movies and play less games. When I come home I'll play a game for 3 to 4 hours, then throw in a movie. Why bother with network broadcasting when most of it is either reality shows at night or infomercials in the morning? Why bother with cable if I first have to pay $45 before I can get digital, and the digital channels are not the same channels on the non-digital channels?

Yes, I'll probably end up getting an HDTV within the next 3 to 5 years. But I don't think that they're worth it at the present. If my HDTV only does 1080p at 24 or 30HZ and the PS3 only does 1080p at 60HZ, will I be able to see the movie? Is there any video degradion? I'm waiting for the laser TVs to come out next year. If my old HDTV doesn't do 720p, and the PS3 down-converts to 480p, which is worthless, the TV or the PS3?

i play games on my pc at 640 by 480 resolution to spite all those people that say i need a higher resolution to play video games

Nintendo doesn't have that luxury, so they have to strategize accordingly. The problem is trying to compare the two when they cater to different crowds. You're the one complaining over nothing.

never said that. little kids are still by far the biggest gaming market. nintendo realizes this, so they strategized accordingly. Making ~$100 hand over fist on each console > Xbox 360 and PS3
