I'm glad you have a superiority complex. Does it make you feel good to know that you have a tv that has a sharper image than other people's? Maybe you should consider that some people have different priorities in their life than to have a crystal clear picture on a tv at their house...

I hate watching television. I will just download whatever episodes I want to see. The only way I would pay for television is if I could ONLY get movie channels... Even then it would be smarter for me to go down and get a satillite card for free, pending the guy still makes them.. Either way back to my point, I'd kill myself if I were a pig headed nfl-fanboy that has nothing to brag about besides the size of his tv e-penis.
 
HDTV's haven't been really prevalent until just this past year. even with all of the entry level cheap ones (westinghouse, etc.), the price is still a good deal higher than tube tvs. I would venture to say that it is still under 20% penetration.
 
I'd kill myself if I had to scour the internet everytime I or someone in my family wanted to watch a TV show or movie. Does this put me in the running for OT's biggest douche award?
 
ok you are right, and the 10,000 articles on the internet are wrong

just cuz your cheap ass wont buy a HDTV, doesnt mean alot of people wouldnt.

go ask 10 people if they have a HDTV, if 3 of them dont say yes Id be shocked
 
I think that that is a good estimate. http://www.org.id.tue.nl/IFIP-TC14/CEA-5tech-2006.pdf says about 15% of all households have HDTV. That pdf is a good read. He stated that in 2005 7 million units were sold and that 2006 should see some 11 million units sold. Do you think MS and Sony would be content to want 50% of that action? Once HD players (HD-DVD and Blu-Ray) go under the PS3/360 price point they will both have problems because people will just pasy $250 for a unit that will play both. Toshiba supposedly is coming out with 45GB HD-DVD media, which would mean that the advantage of Blu-Ray would be minimised.
 
If it's all done in the name of progress, then fine. But I (and many others) honestly don't give a shit about high definition gaming.

I still bust out the SNES every so often, and just a couple months ago I played through the original Megaman series on Nintendo. HD != better gameplay
 
because people on teh internet are a good representative of society as a whole


yeah go ahead and ask random people how many people they know have HDTVs. unless you have all upper class rich friends, most would know very few.

and I don't know what the hell you're reading but most articles still say 15%. I'm guessing it's closer to 20%
 
Out of all of my friends and family the majority do have an HDTV tv. I'd say about 60% do but then again most are middle to upper middle class.
