Legal One Piece Streaming Canceled Indefinitely due to leak (update: uncancelled)

FUNi neeRAB to check their "legal" email more often.

I sent them 5 links where the episode was being hosted/streamed and it's still up on all 5. Work faster FUNi!! Bring the hammer down!!!

Anything posted on internet forums (it was posted to arlong park, only the largest one piece forum on the web, weeks ago) is common enough knowledge.

Just because you didn't know about it doesn't mean a lot of other people did.

I believe that it was already confirmed by someone on their Twitter account that this would not affect the DVRAB. It would only affect the digital streaming that they've been trying to do. Besides, I still don't understand how the DVRAB could be affected by this when they're a completely separate issue from the legal streaming.

As a little FYI for those interested, we'll have to wait to see until next week if the releases will be made on Monday or Tuesday for the past episodes until they catch up, but they added 392- "New Rivals Gather! The 11 Supernovas!" today.

I don't know who I'm more upset with: the degenerates who decided to leak the episode, or Toei for having a hissy fit and pulling the streaming rights from everyone. It's almost as if they were waiting for an excuse to do it.

It gives me little hope that either side will ever change.

Moderator Note: I know everyone's upset, but watch the language.

While I understand and respect your choice, I'm not sure how that would really help FUNimation since this doesn't affect the DVD voyages sets at all. It just affects the legal streaming of Japanese episodes. Unless FUNimation makes a statement that changes what they have said before, their DVD releases should continue.

Besides that, I don't really think this situation is FUNimation's fault. I could see them having some of the blame since they apparently didn't have tighter security for their episodes, especially if it was just a random person with no extreme computer skills who leaked the episode, but I would put more of the blame on the actual hacker. After all, because of those actions, FUNimation may not be able to legally stream One Piece for the time being.

Toei also could have some of the blame for their reaction towarRAB this situation. Then again, it could be just that they want FUNimation to wait awhile and fix their security issues before trying this again. As long as the DVRAB continue and FUNimation makes another statment within the week regarding this issue, I don't think that there is a strong reason to panic.

That's like asking whether it will affect the overtime benefits of the janitorial department who clean up after dubbings sessions. They have little or nothing to do with one another, so we can safely assume that it does not until and unless we have a valid reason to do otherwise.

It's their content with their logos being hosted (illegally) by another site, they are well within their rights to get the content removed.

I just figured that the law of averages would dictate that at least one person there would understand how the real world works. Evidently not.

_______________

It's just somewhat related to the current issue, but here's a series of twitter comments about region locking for whatever it's worth:

I heard about this news on another site, but it is still quite a surprise. While I wasn't going to watch the sub videos, mainly because I'm following the DVRAB at the moment, I do feel bad for the people, such as many people here, who were looking foreword to watching more of the legal subs. I hope that the people responsible will be dealt with this in fair legal action.

I don't understand how this mistake could lead to FUNimation losing the license for One Piece though. I know its Toei, but taking away the rights for just one week of someone getting an episode from their site too early seems a bit too harsh in my perspective. I could see them not wanting to do the legal streaming again, which would be kind of bad, but not as bad as the other case senerios. Besides that, it is too early to draw any hard conclusion from this event until FUNimation and Toei release another statement on what they plan on doing for the future. I know that they said that they would stop the streaming for the time being, but I'm thinking of a statement to be made after they further discuss and take action on the issue at hand.
