Legal One Piece Streaming Canceled Indefinitely due to leak (update: uncancelled)

I don't really know how this stuff works, but if One Piece and FMA were back online after a couple of days I'd be worried that not enough was being done. It sucks to go without, but I'd just as soon they take their time and get it right. Assuming these shows come back, I'd like them to stay back.
 
I'm assuming so yes. That's kind of weird though.

Also yes, FUNi's player, I'm sorry to say, really does kind of suck. I mean, I don't mind waiting but it takes like an hour to wait for the stream to finish and then I start watching.
 
Viz probably won't skip ahead by 30 volumes. Instead they'll do like they did with Naruto where they release 4 or 5 volumes a month while taking it out of the magazine. That's almost certainly the case since they said it won't start until this fall. They'll do it for three or four months and then be caught up with the current edition. It makes sense for the to make the move after finishing Alabasta so they can get ahead of what FUNimation has dubbed so far.

My one big dislike, outside of the FUNi video player, which only took half an hour for me this time, is that apparently they don't have the ending and next time preview, or at least they didn't on 391.
 
While I'm not part of the simulcast crowd (as I'm waaaaayyy behind on the episodes), I'll have to chime and say that this will be a major blow to FUNimation if Toei blows their top over this leak. I only hope that this matter will be ironed out with ease with Toei and we can continue to see uncut releases in the future for One Piece.
 
Exactly. If the first simulcast episode could be leaked before its premiere, then they need to cancel the streaming until they know it won't happen again.
 
This isn't the end of the world. I realize there are many One Piece fans, but while it would suck if FUNi lost all rights to One Piece, or other Toei shows, FUNi would still be doing just fine. The influence of Toei isn't really as strong as many seem to think. Besides, in this global economy, I can't imagine Toei would be stupid enough to cut off a revenue arm.

I'm not a fan of One Piece, nor a fan of watching streaming video, but I really do feel bad for those who are. Hopefully all the shows removed will be back up soon.
 
They don't have an ending theme any more - which is why the new Openings are, like, super long. Not sure about the next episode previews, though - that kinda peeved me, too.
 
Yeah, I know what you mean, I slacked off on FMA:Brotherhood in favor of it being on Hulu. It wasn't bogged down. It's still on Hulu for now, though I am not sure how long it will last since it did take a while for One Piece to be taken off of Hulu after this leak.
 
Yeah, the video player could use some help, I'm rather sure it's all due to significant bandwidth. On the bright side, I do appreciate the video quality, and unlike Crunchyroll I don't have to pay for it. It's not a big deal for me, I just plan ahead when I want to watch something for now.
 
Plus the poor security angle is only valid so far. In effect, the argument here is like saying if I was walking along carrying something and put it down for a moment or so people are allowed to snatch it and run off, rather than show some decency and know "Hey, that's not mine, so I'll keep my hanRAB off". Poor security invites people to take a garable, but then people should show the strength of character not to give into such temptation. Don't make the problem worse, show you have more about you.
 
To paraphrase Robot Chicken, I`m not sure you quite understand the pitifulness of their security.

ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE using a common firefox plugin(one firefox reccomenRAB to install) would literally have the download URL Shoved in their faces.
 
If this is the case, then I'm not buying their DVRAB anymore including Shin Chan. FUNi can bury itself in it's own grave for what I care.

Sorry for offending the company. It's just that they just can't keep those security holes in flash pages (including their main website) patched up from hackers and not paying attention to stop the fansubs and piracy. Wake up, FUNi!
 
The viewers always matter. Not only in Japan. It's the reason the show is made. It's the reason it makes money and to the producers money is what matters.
 
When it comes to revenue streams, it's a question of priorities. Toei's first priority is to the show's original market and distributor. Other markets come second, except in cases of co-productions and Pokemon-style business.
 
Viz caught up to the current episodes of Naruto Shippuden in about three months. Sure, One Piece is about 4 times longer than Naruto Shippuden, but that would still only be about a year.



I'm wondering what the percentage of fans who watch legal subs online is versus those who still go to through illegal means even when the title is available legally. It seems like every ten comments on Crunchyroll is a link to an illegal fansubs site. Some of them seem to be bots, though.

I can't believe some of the complaints that people have about the legal versions. I've heard fans complain that the Shippuden subtitles suck because they don't have swears. But, the stupidest ones are all the comments on hulu that says the episodes on hulu suck because the dub sucks, even though the episodes are clearly subtitled. It's like they didn't even bother to click on the episodes, they just instinctively complain because they hate legal releases.

Wait, how can they follow what's going on in the manga? Isn't Viz like, years behind the Japanese manga releases?
