Leaving ExpressVu or got a Rant then post it here!

I hate the fact that I can't get out of this contract...it's in my mom's name and they will take it to Collections if I refused to pay the $150 for cancelling early. If it was in my name I would've been with StarChoice enjoying HD-PVR and great CSR...!!!

Hey folks. I'm a Shaw subscriber and have been unhappy with Shaw's lack of HD. I have been considering a switch to BEV. After reading all the rants here I am now having second thoughts. Thanks to everyone for stopping me from making a wrong decision.

I switched from cogeco and the sound was relevantly the same with small variations in sound not like bell my sound is in the low part, then switch to another station and you have to set it full blast. And the guide sucks to what is with the 44 hours and sometimes its not even 44 hours is you try to check the guide at 11pm monday it will not show you anything past 7:30 on wednesday. BELL JUST PLAIN SUCK.

LOL!!!

Oh my god... So Mr bxv_csr. If your bank charged you for your mortgage after you switched to another bank, do you sit back and wait for them to reverse the charge? I didn't think so... my god, this is the most rediculous thing I've ever read from a Bell Employee here.

"A good customer is one who doesn't read their bill, and leaves us alone."

Hell, I work for a telco and I KNOW that Bell Canada doesn't follow your "good customer" policy themselves!

I had a similar experience; the installer came in twice for a repair instead of an install. I got sent to the escalations department and he offered me two months free programming. They came out the third time and forgot a receiver, but managed to find one for me. Well needless to say I

on the 5200 it is scolling 2 hours of live TV

and yes I agree with ringmaster. Wouldn't be without it.

Bill

Hey EVUCSR,

I know bell doesn't make any money on the rec. When I wanted to buy the 5900 at 125.00 and the 6100 at full price as wellas enhance my channel package to the max .I offered to sign a 1 ,2 , 3 year contract...still no dice....All I ask them was. Was it worth losing all that business. ie cell, internet, sat. etc....

When it comes to programming flexibility BEV is better than rogers. however, with BEV you get less channels and interactive features. for instance, TMN on bell and rogers is $19.95 a month. with rogers you get TMN on demand for free, with bell you don't. during the fall and winter months rogers added about a dozen channels. BEV added only one - fox news about a week ago.

In terms of pricing for TV and bundling rogers is competitive with bell. a relative of mine subscribes to rogers digital cable, full lineup minus adult and HD channels (except TMN HD which you get at no charge i believe), and extreme high speed internet. for that bundle, which includes 2 digital boxes, he pays $110 a month. this price requires a 2 year commitment just like bell.

I bundle BEV and sympatico HSE, which is about 1/2 the speed of rogers extreme. i'm paying $72 a month for BEV with 2 rented 3100 receivers and $39.95 for sympatico and i'm still missing about a dozen channels with BEV! without bundling and adding the missing channels my BEV price would be about $90 a month and sympatico would be $45. total: $135 a month. with bundling: $112 a month. that's more expensive than rogers!

Therefore, on low end programming, if you only need basic and a few channels, bell is probably a better value. however, if you add all the channels, you'd see that bell is actually just as expensive or even more expensive than rogers.

bembol,

Why do you keep complaining about this?! Either cancel and pay the fee or wait out your contract and switch!

Alt,

Went through the same thing here. Everytime we get a Bell Mobility bill as well, it is always wrong. The first three months of our service on two phones was supposed to be free. It was not. We have another account for one of the kids and her bill was on the wrong plan.

I added up the problems over the first 6 months of billing and Bell overcharged us by some $300. Everytime we get a bill in, I have to call to get them to rectify the bill. One more overcharge and we will be doing battle in court over their 2 year contract because I'm not going to put up with it any longer and go back to Telus.

Simply the worst company to deal with ever IMO.

I called around 4pm both times. I can't be calling while I'm supposed to be working. I understand that that may be a busy time, but that's 4pm Pacific time so I don't think it's unreasonable. After the second time I was on hold for over an hour I let the CSR know that I will be retuning the system, he didn't give a rats ass. I asked for his supervisor and told her why I would be returning it, she didn't give a rats ass either. She just said ok, have a nice day... I was being as nice as possible and trying to explain the benefits of seperior customer service and she just brushed me off. I then called Shaw to ask what they had to offer, now it's around 5:30pm Sat, it took 30 seconds to talk to someone on the phone. Now I realize that I won't get a hold of someone at Shaw in 30 seconds everytime I call, but it sealed Bells' fate in my eyes. I returned the system on Sunday.

Quite frankly, that can be a problem with most carriers. *C has variations in sound volumes and so does an OTA tuner like my Samsung 451. Especially if you are talking a digital feed. Dolby Digital can call for a setting of -20 on my Denon, whereas DPL 11x might only be -34. That can get annoying with shows going to local station breaks half way through a show. Specialty channels on *C will also differ, one channel to another.
Just thought I'd mention that so you're not chasing something you might not find.
Someone might want to comment on the technical reason why it happens and/or if anything can be done. Some DVD players have circuits that level out the sound.

I know with my credit card when i return something it can take up to 30 days for the credit to be applied...Don't worry....

the credit for your purchase should be instant, and you should have been provided documentation of the return, both a "cash register" receipt, and a "cancellation" receipt of the "initial contract"...it would be a good idea to have those two receipts handy, in case there is a problem.

LastRide, a PVR, any PVR will change you watch tv forever. Never heard of any human being on planet earth not liking one.

I really wish I didn't need mommy's credit card to sign up with Bell...

I had it and thought I was out but I was informed that this will be taken to collections if I don't pay the $150 for cancelling my contract. If this was is my name if would've told them to... #@%!&^

The other thing I can't stand is talking over the phone discussing problems...I feel like I'm being played with.

Sorry you misunderstood me. The vacation policy is min 6 weeks to a max of 6 months (anytime of the year) with at least one month active service between vacation adjustment times.

Hope that clears it up.

I lost it today with Bell...

After 6 months they couldn't correct the problems with billing. Eventhough it's clearly on my receipt and doesn't mention it's only for the 3100, they rejected the programming credits I asked for!?!?!

I'm done with this. I'm thinking of Rogers or Starchoice.

They made a mistake. The 6120 package will include the upgrade kit for $299. Or if you look around sometimes it's cheaper. I bought mine as an existing sub for a net price of $199 (after gift card) back in June.

If the reason you're cancelling the contract is because of lack of service, a supervisor will get you out of the contract. If the reason is because of something else, and bell lived up to their end of the bargain (meaning if a mistake was made and Bell corrected it) then you're stuck with it. Basically they use the contract to be able to recoup the costs of the receivers and the free install (which is done by contractors that bell has to pay). So the reason for this is if subs signed up, then cancelled three months later, Bell would be losing a ton of money. If you sign a two contract and cancel in the first year, it's 200$ and if you cancel in the second year it's 100$. However if the service never worked, or your install date kept getting pushed back, or they screwed up the install and took too long to fix the problem, then you have reason to cancel the contract without penalty. If it's simply arguing over credits, they'll make you stick to the contract, as Bell can always apply those credits no problem.
