Leaving ExpressVu or got a Rant then post it here!

im leaving bell....just went with my local cable co.... customer service SUCKS for Bell...and if i did go back to satellite i would go with StarChoice....way better

Just wanted to say that after being an EVU customer since the VERY beginning (7-8 yrs?) i just now cancelled my subscription.

I called to get pricing info on adding either the 6100 or 9200 to my account and being an existing customer forever i knew i would need an upgrade kit, etc, etc. I knew full well the retail pricing structure from their web page but thought that they might be willing to 'deal' just a bit, either in PPV credits, programming or something.

They gave me $299 for 6100 plus $189 for upgrade kit for total of $488.

Now i'll be the first to say that i have been happy with the service i received (to date) and believe in all my heart that EVU is much superior to *C. However when i can by a HD receiver and add'l receiver for $149 net am i on crack or should i not switch? My monthly cost will be less for the package/options i have and will include their version of HD which is $10 more/month with EVU. I know, i know they don't have as much HD programming but they have what i want to watch and isn't that ultimately what is important.

In the end i asked to cancel my account, they put me on hold for close to 10 minutes (all this time i thought they were cooking up an offer to keep me there). She came back with..."your programming will end on October 6'th. thank you for calling".

Hard to believe!

I can't beleive i would defend bell but, the sound issue can be the same with rogers digital...............having said that i will never go back to bell, simply because of the CSRs....

I actually went to Rogers. I got such a good deal with them and so far in the two months we have used it, had no problems. Even got a PVR rent free just for saying "Here, take this crap Bell ExpressVu box".

TYW:

i would recommend firing off an email to the executive office and writing a formal complaint about the way you were treated.

that is completely unacceptable, and people like that shouldn't be working for the company...overall, Bell is a pretty good company, however, it only takes one bad rep to ruin everything a company spends time and money to create.

i am sorry you received such poor treatment...here is the email address if you want to write them.

[email protected]

Discovery Wings changed it's format earlier this year and is now called Military television. The channel is still available on Rogers cable.

From what I know there are two channels now. One all porno and the other Outtv which seems to be all repeats. It's a newsmagazine type show from what I gather. And apparently Bell or *choice won't allow the all porn channel on their programming.

Cheers

Here's a new rant...I had the theme pack 7 combo with a 2700 and 3100....I recieved an unsolicated email stating I could get a pvr for 125.00 after credits...I called and said I wanted to take advantage of this promo+buy a HD reciever + take out the max subscription....The reply was NOpe for new customers only...I was a little pissed.....I asked if the difference in price 175.00 was worth losing my business....No reply!!! So instead of having my cel, internet, tv business.I cancelled it all, and took it all to Rogers.....Rogers sure bent over backwards to satisfy me....When I called bell to tell them they simply replied with we shut tv off in 30 days................I guess they must have too many customers and really don't need the business.....When rogers launches thier phone service later in the summer that business will flip as well....

Maybe I should take some of my thoughts back. That's terrible...... a week and a half... yikes.

Everytime I call and complain about the dark picture on the 6100, they tell me I'm the only one who has called in about it!!! Oh, they also think it's my power bar too. LOL

W  W

For the person having trouble e-mailing exec office. Just write in the e-mail that you want to discuss the situation and then do an upgrade. They'll call you in less then five minutes

I got that little letter yesterday saying in July 2006 my rates will increase. No they won't. I wont be renewing. I hate companines that increase rates.

A.

I was an Expressvu single receiver for a number of years. The service was fine. I paid my bill, they sent good programming value. I think we called only to change our programming once or twice during that time..

When we decided to upgrade to HD and also add an additional SD receiver, we decided that the new SC DSR530 best met our needs. I knew Expressvu demanded 30 days cancellation - no problem. But when I got switched to the Expressvu saves CSR - what unprofessionalism. Running down a competitor's product is bush league all the way. I'll decide how I'll spend my money (well actually me + my better half) - not some employee of a company I pay $$ to.

I came away with a big distaste for Expressvu and will be in no hurry to consider their offerings in the future.

trilinearmipmap,

Sorry to hear about your Bell issues....I WAS a *C customer up till last Friday. I had two Dsr530 (both returned) two many issues...I hope your experence with the unit is better then mine.

Eitherway...*C customer service is better on the most part....but I had Bell in the past and as long as you don't have many calls to them for Billing etc...Bell is OK.

My 9200 setup was painless....and I've gotten through to Bell fairly quickly. Sometimes it's all the luck of the draw.

Love my 9200.

Cheers

Bell actually loses money on the receivers. Keep in mind that "these great deals" the new subs get also involve a 2 year contract. If they sold the receivers to existing subs who don't have contracts at the same price, they'd be taking a big risk. Who's to say you might buy the receiver at the price they have for new subs with a 2 year contract, and then cancel your service 2 months later. In January of this year, Bell lowered the price of all it's receivers for existing subs by $100.00, so even if you buy a receiver at the prices for current subs, and then cancel a month later, Bell still loses money on the sale of that receiver.

Expressvu has little in the way of HD programming. Rogers doesn't either, nor Cogeco, etc etc. Dish is the only supplier anywhere with a significant amount of HD programming

Take a look at this week's schedule:
http://www.shoprogers.com/store/cable/ptv/downloads/HDTV_schedule.pdf

As noted in another thread, the total numbers (of non repeated) HD programming on 28 Expressvu HD channels 2 weeks ago was 84 - Yes just over 3 hours/week/channel

One of the things that bothers me is that there is no way to search for individual channels or programs like I was able to do on Shaw Cable. Is there any plan to change this?
