Late Show with David Letterman (Part 2)

But, in fairness, most are available very quickly.
Last nights edition with Courtney Love and Michael Caine available now, and done in ten minutes.
So its up almost immediately its off air, even pre West Coast sometimes.

I hope Dave is back as well but after looking at various in internet pages regarding the CBS channels, apart from the Freesat link (above), none of the press releases relate to the Late Show at all. Apparently if you want to watch all sort of crap like Star Trek, Dynasty, Judge Judy and Oprah then you will be fine but I cannot find any mention to state they will be showing Dave unfortunately.

I do hope I'm wrong though. I haven't watched an episode of Dave since Diva pulled the plug 18 months ago! :)

It's a bit more complicated than that. The likes of Letterman, Conan and Leno are an acquired taste,
and not many TV viewers in the UK have heard of them, so they don't really get high ratings here.

Since 1994, Letterman's show has been on Sky, Paramount Comedy, ITV2 and ITV4, plus a short
lived stint on a minority satellite channel called DivaTV. The most common reason why the show
hasn't always done very well here is poor ratings, so channels can't always justify the cost of
buying the UK broadcast rights for something that not many are going to watch.

While the show lasted only about a year each on Paramount and Diva, it ran for about 10 years
combined on Sky and the ITV channels. Although ITV kept playing "timeslot tennis" with the
show and often showing it at around 2-3am in favour of populist crap like Pop Idol Extra,

Aside from the first couple of years on ITV2 when it was put on in decent timeslots, even with
re-runs ay 7pm the evening after, it rarely stood much chance of ratings success later on
when ITV's idiot schedulers kept mucking about with it, and hardly promoting it.

With LOVE-
from the (Temporary)Home Office in Wigan, England,

The Top 20 reasons Dave slept with Late Show staffers...

20-He lost a bet with Paul Shaffer.

19-After nearly 30 years in showbiz, he finally realised-You're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

18-Was sick of taking the moral high-ground.

17-Thought it would make the BIG Show funnier.

16-Writers needed ONE more topic to "avoid".

15-It happened just after he interviewed Richard Simmons.

14-He sleeps with ALL members of staff-is'nt that right Alan?.

13-Part of his contract with CBS.

12-Wanted to make Elliot Spitzer and Larry Craig look good for once.

11-Needed to distract attention away from this Sarah Palin "thing".

10-Leno got the 9 o'clock spot, Dave felt he was "owed".

9-Why Not???

8-After 6 long months of marriage, who wouldn't?.

7-At his age, he'll take what he can get!.

6-Beating Conan in the ratings, he had to do SOMETHING to screw things up.

5-Regis told him NOT too!

4-Voices in his head MADE him do it.

3-Needed the publicity, already spent the Late Shows entire adverising budget for the year on Hookers!

2-Should have realised, CBS stanRAB for "Can't buy Silence" (OUCH-Too far??)

and the number one reason the BIG man fooled around with staffers-

He wanted to be remembered for something other than hosting a crappy,3rd rate, late night talk Show!:)

Sorry guys - I didn't get time to upload the Darlene Love Christmas performances to YouTube this weekend.

I've recently moved house so I've been quite busy recently.

I've uploaded some of my New York pictures to Flickr and Facebook - I'll be uploading the Late Show related pictures (and more) to those sites and to Late Show UK soon, along with my trip report at www.lateshowuk.com/late-show-uk-in-new-york.

Monday 7th December

When there are several cappers and several sources available for this type of TV show,
there's really no excuse for them to not cap random episodes. I cannot go any further
with my downloaRAB until I've "acquired" the show from 23rd April. The more laxidazy
cappers are starting to make me fall behind with the Late Show again!
