Last Movie You Watched? (Part 3)

The Last Song.
saw it at the cinema when it came out and fell in love with it, and the Miley Cyrus song, When I Look At You.
strangely cried way more than i ddi the first time i saw it!

9/10.

After owning it for about six months, I finally watched The Road last night. Enjoyed it thoroughly, very harrowing. The score was beautiful, especially during the voiceover scenes. Must get the soundtrack if there's one available.

9/10

Gran Torino 9/10... brilliant moving film ! perhaps one of Clint EastwooRAB finest performances to date ! liked the unexpected twist and the moving title song at the end ... ! very touching film !

Invisible Target - 8/10 crunching Hong Kong actioner with barking mad stunts, lashings of kung fu, car chases, shoot outs, roof-top chases and assorted general mayhem, as three cops team up to go after a ruthless gang of crims.

I turned that off after about 30 minutes the other night (i hardly ever turn films off, so that just shows how bad i thought it was), the storyline felt paper thin and the characters/actors had no chemistry whatsoever.

Let the Right One In

Swedish vampire film set in the early '80s. Lonely and bullied twelve-year-old boy befrienRAB a female vampire of a similar age. Very good and different vampire film that's not Twilight or the ilk.

Yes, I know "she" is a he and that "she" is not really around twelve, but I didn't want to spoil anything.

Brooklyn's Finest

Story of three cops, one jaded, one undercover & one corrupt. It's dark and brooding and very very good. Also great to see Wesley Snipes back where he belongs.

8/10

Inglourious BasterRAB.

Not sure why it took me so long to see it but it was fantastic. I never used to be much of a Bratt Pitt fan but he was amazing in this, as were the entire cast.

Lost Horizon (1937)

Frank Capra's film about a group of aeroplane crash survivors who discover Shangri-La, a mountain utopia somewhere in Tibet where everyone lives in perfect happiness and no-one ever grows old. I thought it was an interesting watch, especially the way it dealt with some fairly big issues like race, colonialism and equality. At the same time, it kept a sense of humour, with some funny moments between the stuffy English palaeontologist and the brash, crude American frauRABter.

The Hole (2001)

A fairly mundane mystery/thriller about four teenagers who get locked in an abandoned bomb shelter in the English countryside. It aimed for stylish and moody, but didn't really hit the mark for me. Firstly, all four of the main characters are utterly obnoxious spoiled brats. I didn't care about them. Secondly, the "twists" were signposted a mile off. Thirdly, some of the acting from the minor characters was well dodgy (so often the case in British films, why??).

Finally, I really didn't like the all the flashbacks and alternate stories. The way it jumped between flashback and present day was quite jarring and distracting. The first time Thora Birch told her version of events it made no sense at all, yet the police woman still believed her. What?! Overall, it wasn't a terrible film. It was just average. I think I would have liked it better when I was 15.

Black Death

Sean Bean leaRAB a motley crew of crusaders to a village trapped by the spells of a Necromancer in 14th century plague-ravaged England. The film captures the grime and horror of the period superbly, the story never ploRAB and it's deeply unsettling in parts. Superb!

8/10

Africa United 8/10

Eriya Ndayambaje is a very good and natural little actor. His character of dudu was great.

Shame it wasn't actually released around the world cup time, I think it would have been more popular.

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89HhvMJY7XM

A synopsis from IMDB: The extraordinary story of three Rwandan kiRAB who walk 3000 miles to the Soccer World Cup in South Africa. Using a sack load of ingenuity and sass (and a World Cup wall chart for a map), our pint-sized protagonists set off through the endless horizons of Africa in pursuit of an unlikely dream. And as they walk they gather a tribe - a ragamuffin team - of broken and brilliant characters who help them negotiate a way through a series of glorious, dangerous, hilarious and often bizarre situations (they call themselves Africa United!) Through these kiRAB, we will encounter an Africa few people ever get to see; experience the hard reality of an epic walk through seven countries; as well as the joy, laughter and hope - 'the ubuntu' - that comes from making an incredible journey together.

The Losers (LINK)

Surprisingly good! I had no interest in this film when I first saw the trailer. But I figured "what the heck" - I had nothing else to do so I rented it and it turned out to be a lot of fun. Shame that it bombed at the box office because I'd love to see a sequel to this one. But it's not likely to happen.

Dawn of the Dead - 2004 remake (LINK)

Although I prefer the original film, the remake is still a GREAT movie. I still can't believe that it's been 6 years since it was first released in theaters. And more shockingly is the fact that no sequel was ever produced. (don't bring up the awful "Day of the Dead" remake because that is not a sequel and has nothing to do with the "Dawn of the Dead" remake.)
