Last Movie You Watched? (Part 3)

All About Eve

Really enjoyable film starring Bette Davis. An ageing star of the theatre is befriended by an obsessive young fan, who begins to manoeuvre herself into a position to become the understudy of Bette Davis's character, Margo. But behind the fan's supposed modesty and high praise of Margo, there lies ambition, deceit and conflict.

The Other Guys 8/10
Possibly the funniest film of the year. Had me in stitches in places. I would have given it higher, but after about 60/70 minutes it got a bit slow for a brief period before finishing strongly.

Apartment Pop.

From Paris With Love. Just couldn't get into this at all. Just the usual shoot 'em up from Luc Besson. Seen it all before.

Moon. Excellent SF movie. Sam Rockwell is outstanding and it's great to see a science fiction movie that doesn't rely on OTT effects but has a story and characters (although the effects are very impressive - the table tennis scene was amazing!)

Wrong Side Of Town (2010)

Almost ashamed to admit I watched this. I can only imagine it was made for WWE fans..but when watching movies, even they must demand better quality than this ?
Dreadful from start to finish, and even the "action sequences" were terrible.

1/10

Easy A

I've read reviews saying that it is the best teen comedy since Clueless but that might be taking it a tad too far but it's still very good. Maybe I rate Clueless too high for nostalgia sake.

Emma Stone is turning into a very good actress, let's just hope she can turn in a more serious performance in the upcoming Spiderman films.

Back to the film, it is the best teen film for a while (hardly has much competition). It is not dumb and doesn't resort to fart jokes or anything like that. I would go as far as saying it's clever in the sense that it's a loose adaptation of The Scarlet Letter, with some decent references.

Watch it if you get the chance.

7.5/10

Ahh yes. I had a cd of disney music when I was a kid. Used to sing it all the time. I remember standing in HMV (that's always a bad idea for me, I can spend blissful hours in a music/dvd store!) with my parents and bugging my dad to buy it for me. He gave in eventually. If I remember correctly, I made him play it in the car on the way home. It was a long journey too :D

started watching Etre et Avoir - one of those 'greatest films ever made' jobs. Seriously dull, devoid of content, had it have been in English, the critics would have been 'WTF?'.

Elizabeth: the Golden Age

The sequel of Elizabeth, set a few years later when England was threatened by Spanish conquest. It certainly wasn't as good as the first film (yeah, the first film had a lot of historical inaccuracies, but I still enjoyed it a lot and was mesmerised by Cate Blanchett's portrayal of Elizabeth), but that was a hard feat to accomplish. It had its moments, but I did feel it was a bit cartoonish in places, painting Elizabeth's opposition in simplistic terms, which wasn't so much the case in the original film, which at least had some subtlety. The political intrigue wasn't as played out in this film as in the first. Sometimes it was a bit stagy and Cate Blanchett, although did fairly well, wasn't really as impressive in this as in the first. The sets and wardrobe were impressive, and a special mention should go to the armour that Elizabeth wore, which was quite spectacular. Not a bad film, worth watching, but nowhere in the same league as the original film back in 1998.

Monte Carlo Or Bust. 1969.

Brilliant fun and great entertainment for all ages. Some good stunts, lovely scenery and a great cast including Terry-Thomas, Pete and Dud, Eric Sykes, Willie Rushton and the late Tony Curtis.

I loved it!

10/10

They are, Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are the leaRAB in the film, I believe they are actually setting it in Sweden with accents to go with... does have a decent writer, and director though.

But do read all three books, especially before seeing the other films in the trilogy. :)

Last watched Storm, film starring Kerry Fox.

Back to the Future

I was never crazy about the "BttF" sequels but the original is still a great piece of filmmaking. A fantastic film that still holRAB together well 25 years later. :)
