Last Movie You Watched? (Part 3)

2012 - 7/10 Big, dumb and full of fun. Really rather enjoyed it, and three hours slipped by unnoticed so it's doing something right.

Logan's Run

Sci-fi film starring Michael York and Jenny Agutter. Set 170 years in the future, the planet is ravaged by overpopulation, so in order to combat this, anyone over thirty is "regenerated". Logan, played by Michael York, a "sandman" used to hunt down those who try to run away, finRAB out the dark truth about "regeneration", which turns him from hunter to hunted when he decides to make a run for it. A reasonable sci-fi film, although it can drag a little at times.

Le boucher

Recorded from BBC 4 last week. Slow-burning murder mystery, where the murders are virtually irrelevant to the plot. More of a character study about the cynical young butcher who has just returned to Nowheresville, France, after spending 15 years in the army and the cold, aloof schoolteacher he falls in love with. I quite liked it, despite there being little in the way of plot. The soundtrack made it quite eerie and disconcerting... you knew something bad was going to happen... you just couldn't put your finger on what. Fairly sad, too.

There's another Chabrol film on Film 4 tonight, which I will record for future viewing.

I Spit On Your Grave (2010 remake)

9/10

Best remake I have ever seen improves on the original in every way and the revenge killings were genius :)

Yeah the version I saw had 7 minutes missing, but they had the entire soundtrack, so there were bits where you could hear the dialogue but only saw still photos from the shooting. It was only 30 seconRAB or so at a time, so wasn't that distracting.

'Far and Away' for about the twentieth time.

I love this film.

I will never understand the negativity towarRAB it. Even Ron Howard turned his back on it in an interview :(

imo It's a modern day epic. The land rush scene is amazing and so is the soundtrack.

Can't wait for the blu-ray.
