Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

Yes, I did feel incredibly sorry for Dorcas in this episode. She was so vulnerable and her desire for love so great. But she could only accept it from one man--who could never be hers. It's just so tragic.

Thanks BBC for removing the HD stream even though every week its on so I missed first 15 minutes as I usually watch it recorded and set on series link. Nice to see it wont be shown later.

Unbelievable no point complaining because us the customer mean nothing to them

It would not be the first time!

However it is not undoable, I was talking in terms of "Hamlet folk" joining together.

I am definatley using the royal "WE" here. I am in no better a position than you, I just happen to have family in Somerset and allready live in England!

I dont mind Minnie as its part of her characterization, but Thomas and Margaret were very strange and overacted at times.I thought they would be great characters as a married couple, but it just didnt happen.I also enjoyed Queenie and Twister last night as it was more like they used to be in previous episodes. It was also great to see Fisher back, as I have not taken to Daniel at all.All in all it seems LRTC is back to its best when the series is nearly at an end which is a pity.Next series it would be great to see Dorcas with a romantic interest as I feel she is best when she is joshing and teasing with her men, and the Sydney story is odd, would a parent abandon his child never to be seen again and the next thing we know he is Dorcas,s son,did I miss the adoption story!!

Welcome to the party L7.........have you bought the pink pop and the Uische:D:D (think I spelt that wrong QM, it's been a while.........not since I had some obviously, just since I spelt it:D:D:D

Radio Times says Sally Timmins inherits some money (proof readers been on pink pop methinks):D:p

Loved the addition!! I can picture them all so clearly when reading it. Maybe there should be a Sunday night timeslot on here for your story???

Post away when you're ready for episode 6.:):) Can't stop a genius at work now can I.

Oh, if she had to kiss someone, better it be him - lovely!!! Bohemian types always the best.

No, I didn't mean you - but I am gratified that a young'un like you knows what it means!

I've thought a little more about the episode and I wonder if some of us are not liking it simply because it is very similar to the last series?
OK, there was the inheritance story and that was vaguely interesting, but I sensed that it was just a way of shoe-horning a new love interest for Laura in. Then, the comedy was good, but basically a continuation of what went before.
None of it is bad, and indeed some of it is very good, but perhaps, once the series really gets underway, we can, at last, get some real character development. This is what was missing towarRAB the end of Series 2.

There is only so much naive and innocent Laura (who seems to fall in love with every good looking young man who rolls into town), wise Dorcas, superstitious Queenie, scatty Ruby, religious Thomas, hidebound Robert etc we can take.
Ah well, here's to hoping for better things. Bound to happen, surely? Please?

Yes. Superb episode.

I think that LRTC should be repeated from the very first episode, every Sunday at 6pm before Countryfile. That'll take us up to Christmas!

Afternoon All,

I think the fact that LRTC has it's own purpose built set might be in its favour in the cost dept S, and Victoria Wood used it for her Christmas special so they are getting their moneys worth from it. :)
Agree with you about commercial TV tho, I watched 'Mo' with Julie Walters on C4, it was excellent but it's the first thing I've watched with adverts since..........well it must be months. All this talk recently about BBC having to give some of its licence money to commercial channels, not sure if that would up the standard or if they would just use it to make even more tosh, personally I hope it never happens. The TV licence is worth every penny (how much is it these days?.........my Ma stays with me and she gets a free one, so I have no idea:D:D)

I quite like the 'little man' tag PC, and I loved Dorcas telling Queenie she wanted to turn her little man into a little boy.

I think this was the one episode JD should have got a mention at least, but I fear, like Nan he has been exterminated:cry::cry:

Nice article in RT today featuring the actual current inhabitants of Lark Rise (Juniper Hill). One guy, 86 year old Mickey is the nephew of the lady Queenie is based on, and the villagers call him Twister.
Apparently Laura acutally worked in Candleford (Fringford) for 7 years, beginning when she was 14.........could we hope for another 4 series?......think that maybe too many myself:D
Glad she changed the names tho.............Juniper Hill to Fringford just doesn't have the same ring to it somehow:D

Here's what the RT 'Pick of the Day' piece says

'There's no point in trying to resist, even if you think it's all idealised Disneyfied bucolic bunkum, because Lark Rise has that way of sucking you into its softly glowing world of applecheeks and home-made cider.'

Doesn't it just............resistance is futile;)
