Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

My mind has gone blank--who is Caroline again??
Duh, never mind--Alfie's mom. Yeah, definitely hope it's not her! But now that you mention it--with Alfie writing her that letter, it could be.... But how would she save the post office??

Lovely post, Jennie Bee! My mom just watched episode 7 and she agrees with you that Sir Timothy is going to show up again one way or another. I forgot about Dorcas's letter to him on behalf of the town for the play, so you know he would have read it. I loved Timothy's "all I ever wanted was you" scene! It was such a surprise to me that it was she who had turned him down and not the other way around. You're right--Dorcas would have been the making of him, not the ruin of him. He said himself that duty and responsibility were thrust upon him and he never wanted it. His happiness was already ruined when she rejected him--try as he might, he could never feel that way towarRAB Adelaide. But we have to think of Dorcas's happiness now. Even if she had married Timothy she might have always felt guilty that she had somehow "brought him down" in that ridiculous class structure ideal that had always been forced upon them. She's been sad for so long but now she has something new to focus on that gives her real joy. She has done really well for herself and isn't alone anymore. I think in order for any of us to be truly happy with someone we should first be able to stand on our own two feet and be happy and content with ourselves. It's Dorcas's time to experience that. I don't think she's given up on romance altogether--it's just laying fallow for now. I really admire Dorcas for kicking her old sadness baggage to the curb and moving on with her life. (But I still hold out hope that sometime down the line she and Timothy will find each other again, even if it is when they are old and gray and full of sleep.)

I really don't like the character Laura, she has real high opinions of herself, and looks down on everybody.. she's a stuck up little madam, thanks to miss Lane. I hope she comes a real cropper soon.

My mother has finally stopped hating LRTC after it has sunk in that it is only loosely based on the books; from what she has told me, it shouldn't be so "warm & fuzzy" (country life being somewhat harsh etc.) and the soft filter/post-production that they use drives me nuts.

Have to agree with you to a certain extent D5, this series has produced some of the worst episodes of all 3 series. Namely episode 1, which IMO is absolutely the worst episode ever due to its appalling continuity, and the Lady A saga which just got on my nerves. But it has also produced two of the best, namely Pearl's encounter with the progressive seamstress and last week's pregnancy story. I loved them both and thought they were LRTC back to its best. Hopefully that is going to continue for the next 2 weeks.
Of course that's just my opinion, I expect lots will disagree:D:D

The BBC are a bunch of fools. "Make way for Toast with Helena Bonham Carter"??? YUCK! I can only hope the fan outrage will descend upon the BBC and make them rethink such a stupid decision as to cut LRTC in half. Even though I knew it was coming, reading this article still made me seething mad.

True, but a lot of the high quality US cable shows we get in the UK like Dexter, Damages, Breaking Bad, True Blood, Mad Men, Hung and Nurse Jackie to name a few, all have 12 or 13 week seasons. Currently, Lark Rise is the only British drama we watch in our house!!

I have never seen this on television
Jonathan Ansell will be on tour from September with Lark Rise To Candleford
He is going to be Boemer, never read the book
What is Boemer like(to those who read the book as I noticed he not listed on BBC site on charectors in Lark Rise to Candleford)

Mark was a very quiet and thoughtful teenager, he's one of 4 sons of our (then) local Methodist Minister, all gorgeous boys, one of the others is an actor too:):):):)

Thanks for the link Kyrsten.
RAW FOOD? Does she mean raw veg ( ok - I do that a lot) or does she include raw meat like that crazy family in USA on wife swap:confused:

Great interview, good to show Julia as we know her, some viewers may get the impression that she really is prim and proper with that pursing mouth.
Julia and her sister are both great characters and always good to watch on tv. Her sister Nadia really cracks me up with her loud laugh. Did anyone see her on "Who do you think you are?" kyrsten you didn't record it did you?

Nice idea but not sure the Beeb could afford the high profile star you're suggesting! but other than that it seems like a feasbile ending ;)

Anyone considered Pearl Pratt being the one who 'pops her clogs'? leaving the way for Ruby to come back with her new man and take over the shop... just speculating!

We must try to stay hopeful, Steve! Maybe when the rest of the viewing public hears there will only be six episodes they will inundate the Beeb with letters begging for more. I plan on sending one of my own letting them know about how the American viewers are just catching on to the show and are falling in love with it. I'm not giving up without a fight! :)
