A new pair... Seven Songs To Look Out Over A Neon-Lit City At Night To
Jackhammer's Seven Songs To Look Out Over A Neon-Lit City At Night To
I don't live in a big city but I always imagine staring out from a huge glass fronted apartment building. High up looking at the busy city at night, tunes playing and a glass of whisky whilst in wistful contemplation. Here are those tunes:
1. Charles Mingus—"Goodbye Pork Pie Hat"
2. Fishbone—"Pouring Rain"
3. Mike Figgis—"Leaving Las Vegas"
4. Silversun Pickups—"Rusted Wheel"
5. John Martyn—"Go Down Easy"
6. Everything But The Girl—"No Difference"
7. Lloyd Cole—"Downtown"
Janszoon's Seven Songs To Look Out Over A Neon-Lit City At Night To
The title of the comp says it all for me really but a word of warning: track six is actually my old band. Normally I wouldn't be so lame as to put one of my own songs in one of these but that song is basically about the exact subject of this particular comp so I couldn't resist. It was recorded and mixed by yours truly in the livingroom of my old apartment so it's a lot rougher around the edges than all the other tracks. Hope it's not too distracting. At the very least I hope the rest of the songs are enjoyable.
1. Morphine—"The Night"
2. Pram—"Penny Arcade"
3. The Church—"Louisiana"
4. Suicide—"Harlem"
5. Stereo MC's—"Unconcious"
6. Krill>Whale>Human—"Lake Shore Drive"
7. Meg Lee Chin—"Deeper"
Time and time again we go on different tangents with these comps which can only be a good thing! At last I have heard some of your music (sorry I just can't do myspace) and I liked that church track. I know you were threatening me with them before. May have to take you up on that offer now
You need the LAME converter for that and for some reason I just can't get it to work which annnoys the crap out of me because I'm usually on the money with PC'S.
And the award for scariest song goes to: Daisy Chainsaw! What the hell was that about?!?
Brilliant Pig Destroyer track and i should probably listen to more Sun O))) since it seems like the kind of thing that will only ever grow and grow on me.
You could. Or you could dig out all your dodgy 70's pop rock. Or 60's. Or 50's. Or even earlier. Or more recent. Whatever you think works best.
I'm excited about either option. I've been thinking about the teen romance one for a while but also just got back from a camping trip to the desert (a bunch of photos here) so I'm feeling pretty inspired for the desert one too.
Big props for the inclusion of Motorhead's 'The Hammer' on Janszoon's mix and you can't beat some Atari Teenage Riot. I was very nearly going to put some Mad Capsule Markets in my comp who are like a noisier version of ATR.
Merabers can suggest themes for the comps, even if it's bizzare i'm sure we can find some music for any occasion!
Sorry it took me so long to give feedback on your comp, Jackhammer. I was wanted to give it a second listen after the multi-day headache I had went away. Anyway, I thought it was a great comp! Here's a little song by song reaction:
I originally wanted to include some kind of image when I posted this pair of comps like I did for the robot invasion ones but I didn't feel like creating one again and I couldn't find anything I really liked through google. But I did however find this picture which I thought was pretty funny:
