J and J Present: How To [Blank] In 7 Easy Tracks

Due to a shared taste in music, Jackhammer and I thought it might be fun to do a collaborative mix thread. Here's how it works:

  1. Jackhammer and I will each propose an idea for a "Seven Songs To _____________ To" compilation.
  2. Anyone who wants to participate votes on which comp idea they'd like us to do.
  3. After three days, voting is closed and the two of us each create a comp based around the decided upon theme for your listening pleasure.
  4. Comment.
  5. Repeat.
Just to get the ball rolling we have already agreed on a concept for the first pair of comps, "Seven Songs To Get In a Barroom Brawl To". Listen, enjoy, leave comments, and we'll soon be moving on to the voting for the next pair of comps. Here's the first pair:

5. Mighty Mighty Bosstones—"What's At Stake?"

Glad you liked it. Strangely enough "Lust Chance" and "Overloaded" were probably the two songs I was least sure about when I was putting it together.

Thanks a lot for that Lee
Pretty good though, started off loud and went into the eeriee which i think is always the scariest stuff. I really enjoyed that Martin Grech song. Onto Zoon's...

lol I don't think I've ever heard this version of the song before.

Well, I guess if we were going in a more quirky direction I could come up with some stuff for the jungle comp.

I don't know what you're talking about, I just checked it out and thought it sounded great and very well paced! The first track was a great setting the scene kind of piece, the Benga track seemed almost like sneaking behind robot enemy lines to me and the Mindless Faith track sounded like some hardcore outer space dogfight. The other songs worked well too, but those three were the real standouts for me I think.

I gave it a listen when you first posted it but I've only been on my computer intermittently for the past few days and wanted to give it a second listen before I commented. I'm actually listening to it right now so I'll be posting some comments very shortly. Sorry to leave you hanging! :)

Alright, I just finished listening to yours. Great stuff, nice and bitter sounding. :) The Archive track was easily my favorite of the bunch and great way to start the mix, I'd really be interested in hearing more by these guys. The Sex Pistols song of course was nice and snide in a way that only Mr. Rotten can do. I thought that Bitch Alert song worked particularly well in here. I had never heard of this group before but they reminded me a lot of L7 except, honestly, a little better than L7. And that Nina Simone song work well as a kind of d
