Is this a good deal for the sale on these Bell Receivers

If I rented all 5 together, would there be any install charge, or any extra charge for the second multiswitch required?

Bell has 1.8 million subs and the lowest churn in North America, (well below *C). If customer service was so bad these numbers whould not hold up. We are a large company and only the people who have bad experiences will be on boards like this telling people about it. Do not let a few bad experiences change your mind, Bell wants as much HD, the Shaws don't, make your chioce based on that.

I read up the terms of condition and isn't that bad, I pay $600 up front for the HD PVR (and I pay $100 for my other 2nd Standard receiver) and then they will credit it on your first bill $350 I will be credited after I purchase the 2 receivers, meaning I will basically be getting free service for a few months (but remember I have to pay the regular price and then they credit me later).

I am going for HD, Digital Standard, & 5-6 theme packs, which works for the 2 year contract that requires you have $47 + of montly programming - which I will be spending of course.

Wow I had a great experience with BEV customer service. I went to Bell.ca and I actually got one of those talk online to a CSR live now! popups. So I was more than happy too. So spoke to her, got all my questions aswered she said if I order it online or over the phone (doing it online for another $25 credit) that I make my order on the 9200 and rental receiver and they mail it to me (not sure of if its Canada Post or courier).

The best part is they give you the $300 deal upfront ($275 online). There is no credit on your first bill she says as long as you get it straight from them.

And as far as the thought of "well the install thing will be difficult without going through local dealer".

She said you can attempt to make an install with them (probably won't work for me). She said best route it to contract your own installer who will get it all up and running. Pay him. Get the Bill of everything he did. Fax the Bill into Bell.

Bell credits account the $$ you put out on install

So I am happy about this. The online customer service was great.

happy soon to be customer, westmanguy

it will be a $300 credit, not $350...you don't get half price on the extra receiver, just the first system.

After speaking with someone from Bell....In my opinion this is a good deal HOWEVER that being said....You are only entitled to 1 year warranty on the receiver if purchased outright...where if you rented the unit, you have a lifetime warranty and would be able to upgrade to a newer model after your 2 year agreement has expired.

Hmm I am suppose to get a receiver installed this Wednesday. I received an email from BEV about 3 weeks ago with an installation date stated.

Does the installer usually call to confirm? or is this dependent on the installer?

if a customer upgrades to any N2 programming, they will get the new dish at that time...if they don't, they won't get the new dish, but they won't need it anyway.

Yes BUT it costs $20 / month for the HD PVR after 2 years of renting that is something like $480 dollars, buying is always cheaper in the long run especially at the $300 price.

Also I am not on Bell service line, I have MTS hear in a town very near Brandon Manitoba. (60 000). I would like to order online as I get another $25 online order credit, (meaning $274 for a 9200!! crazy). But from what I have heard you have to be on Bell / Aliant system to do that online. Something like people on MTS/SaskTel/Telus/etc. have to get it from a dealer (same credit rebate though... I would rather do this over the phone or online. The install of the 9200 and dish is free, saying Bell can't arrange a installer for me could I contract one to put it up and install it and then fax the bill to Bell to re-emberse me..?

This is a gray area for me... as for my second receiver IMO $3/month for a standard receiver is a great deal! BTW will the rental receiver be installed free also?

Thanks

Hmm can you clairfy the $300 discount and where it was applied? It says in the small print that it is credited to you BEV bill.

Hey little buddy, are you surprised? I think it is your location, I guess you have to be patient, damn, would be nice to see HD on your 50 incher. Let me know what you think of the quality, as Iam still looking at switching back to Bell in the new year. Hang in their!!! it will be soon!

Thanks. Sorry my PM box was getting full and I deleted that.

I thought it might have been your email!

So could you re-PM it to me, with the position this guy is in.

Thanks, westmanguy

Hiya,

Would you happen to have any encouraging insight for us 6100 owners? (Pretty please)

Thanks!

Sorry trellaine don't know who is right. Does it really matter though you get it back on your bills. I pay them $600 an have no tv bill for 5-6 months. You still get it.

The other catch is a 2-year contract commiting $47 + a month which is fine for me.

Either way I am ok with it the money is saved either way.

My pack is going to be:

Digital Standard - $27
5 theme packs - $20
HD - $10
Rental of standard receiver - $3
-----------------------------
$60 / month - good deal IMO.

Ok, I will explain your 3 options ehyo:

Option 1
Purchase the BEV 9200 (dual-tuner) HD PVR, for $600 UP FRONT. Your account will then be credited for $300. Thus meaning you won't have a TV bill for a few months.

Note: If you order online you get an additional $25 credit. So you would still put $600 upfront and have $325 credit to your bill.

Either way the NET cost is $300 or $275. Pretty good deal IMO.

Then you CHOOSE your programming:

Digital Standard - $27 (going to $31 in February).
5 theme packs - $20, $5 for each additional one. Its $8 / month each, but once you hit 3 theme packs it makes sense to go to the 5 for $20 deal.
HD - $10
Movie Central - $19 (OR if you subscribe to 6 + theme packs its $16)

Note: The 9200 can power 2 TV's. You can also purchase a new 4100 standard receiver for $99. You can purchase 2 refurbished 4100 standard receivers for $150.

Option 2

All-in-on "HD Extra Plan"

At $98 / month you get the following:

The month-month basis rental of a 9200 HD PVR.
Digital Standard
6 theme packs
HD Pack
Movie Central

**For the first 6 months its half price.
------------------------------------
Note: You can still purchase or rent for $3 / month for extra standard receivers

Option 3

All-in-one 'HD Essentials' $67

Includes:

the month-month rental of a HD receiver: NOTE NOT A PVR, just a HD receiver
Digital Standard
5 theme packs
HD Pack

Note: You can purchase or rent at $3 / month extra standard receivers.

**Half price for the first 6 months
-----------------------------
----------------------------
----------------------------

Now, here is the delimna for you:

Receivers you purchase are NOT warranted. If you buy the 9200 at $300 after credits if anything happens YOU pay for the repairs.

Now the all-in-one price break down and normal "build your own bundle" 9200 rental receiver cost is $20.

Is that to high for rent for you?

I personally am on "HD Extra" with a rental of $3 /month for a standard receiver.

I don't want to have a fried 9200 and be, well, "screwed" in the sense.

NOTE: Their is a 2 year contract on the all-in-one packages. BUT you can switch up your programming on them. BUT for the duration of the 2 year contract you must keep and pay for the rental receiver that originally came with the all-in-one pack.

Hope this helps.

- Whew, this is confusing!!
- I'm an ExpressVu newbie, but am looking at buying one dual tuner, no PVR unit (3200/3220) and one standard receiver (4700?).
- Although I have two HD-ready progressive scan TVs, I'm not interested in getting the HD programming package. Likely the $47/mo. package with a few extras would suffice (a few extra Theme Paks, Leafs, Raptors, US E&W Nets...). I price this out at about $62/mo. before taxes.
- A couple of questions for the group:

Q1: Looking at the current on-line deal, I don't see anything about the dual-tuner, no PVR units? How much are these to buy, and what is the credit back with a 2-year committment?

Q2: How does the "free" install work if I already have DiSH hardware on my roof?

Q3: Will they re-aim my dish at the cottage as well for free too? I would be taking up the 4700 during the summer.

Q4: If I want E&W US networks (say Buffalo & Spokane), do I only pay an extra $1/mo. regardless of how many receivers I have?

Q5: Is there any extra charge for 2nd receiver (4700)?

Q6: Do any of the receivers need to be plugged in to the phone line if I won't be ordering PPV? What if I don't have a phone line in my TV room?

Q7: If I already have Bell landline & Pay-as-you-go cell service can I get any bundled package discount?

Q8: Does Bell offer "turn in" credit for my old DiSH hardware, or is it better for me to sell it on the web?

- Your advice & guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It really isn't my location though... My installer I found out lives in a town a 15 minute drive away from me and says he will do my install ASAP when the receivers are delivered to him.

So it comes to 2 companies fault on the issue:

BEV: Screwing up the shipment some how.
Puralator: Is screwing up the delivery.

For some reason I think my intial shipment by BEV is the problem.

I am just so eager! and I have to wait. I had all my cable unhooked and everything but now I put up my cable again.

last time i checked, there was little margin in them...they show up as zero now, as hardware is not a core product for us any more, therefore we no longer see that info, everything is zero's...we simply order the SKU's and sell them at their appropriate prices...we make nothing on them (we actually lose money on them, as my reps are paid a few bucks for selling them, but we get nothing for them)...everything is paid on new business only.

Veinless like I have stated before, all HD customers will be swapped.

westmanguy, if you purchase a receiver and then rent one the rental has to be installed by Bell's National Install group and you will be charged for that install, they do not ship the receiver to you. You will also need to buy the rental certificate for this receiver, (it will be refunded on an upcoming bill) that can be purchased at any store. You are better off just buying the second receiver at the same time as the 9220.
