Is this a good deal for the sale on these Bell Receivers

absolutely...it would be $57 for your programming, plus $26 for your receivers for a total of $83.

I was just saying nothing is 100%, a bomb could go off and kill evryone in Toronto, then no swap.

Mpeg 4 switch is planned and will happen, DJ I will give you the numbers so you can understand, 1.8 million subs, about 7% of subs have HD, or 126,000 boxes, give or take. Cost of the swap will be about $200 per box after the buy back from Echostar, so about $25,000,000.00 for the swap. Now if you read the last quater results you would know ARPU has gone up $3 a month, or $64,800,000.00 a year since last year. We have been making moves over the last 3 years to make this swap painless to ExpressVu.

Yeah workforbell, still no go with Puralator and my rental receivers arriving.

Getting a little upset. I am pretty sure its on your end, BEV probably forgot to ship the receivers out.

Its probably something as silly as that.

But then again I live 1 hour away from a city of 65 000 people. Why can't some guy from there get me my rental receivers. Yikes this is crazy.

- Westmanguy, dreaming, wondering, yearning, demanding for BEV!! lol

Yeah well bell will install the sw21 then. Either way the buyer don't have to deal with the installation.

So workforbell, when is the MPEG4 going to happen? I am with * Choice and want to move maybe, kind of depends when they move etc. I want more HD, but not the lousey BEV customer service, as I have said in other threads depends on the ratio of BEV to * Choice. So I will wait till it happens, just want to know when!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So contrary to what workforbell states
The tax part makes no difference here. Either you pay tax on the $300 on hardware, or you pay tax on the $300 in programming, both work out to be the same. In your case you paid tax on the hardware but the reduction in programming costs of $300 will mean you don't pay tax on that programming.
you say you pay tax on $599 for hardware and tax on $300 programing.
Two bell guys saying different things sounds a lot like customer service.
Online shows net price of HDPVR rec as $299
Has anyone got thier bill for this promo yet?

No I am correct. When you receive your bill with credits you will see the credits are taken off before the tax is added. Simply put, if your bill was $100 and you get a $50 credit the final bill will be $50 plus taxes.

Yes but for new subs today shouldn't thy be getting the 20" dual dishes that enables all the programming for them from the start.

It makes it more attractive for people to get HD or other channels if they don't have to wait to be upgraded.

I just got back from FutureShop and was ready with cash in hand to purchase a PVR from BEV but as the salesman stated after inputting all the information, that they have had lots of problems the past 3 months with this registration process.

Anyone experience this problem? I dunno what to do now since I got a decent price $549..I guess I will go back tomorrow and try once more.

No, Puralator still didn't get the rental receivers into my installer.

I don't know if Puralator delivers over the weekend but I called Bell and they put a rush on it.

I wanted it for over this weekend but I probably won't get it till next week.

Sigh.

Great that sums up basically all my questions about Bell, will pick up my 9200 Tuesday.

My other question is I am wanting to rent a standard receiver for $3 / month for now (will buy one later). Can I pick up the rental receiver at Future Shop or Visions? Or for rental receivers do I have to go straight through Bell over the phone?

If they ship out my standard receiver if I call in and order the rental, will they charge me $$ for shipping it out (I will mind if they do b/c if I put out $25 for shipping its cheaper in the long run to just buy it)

Anyways Bell has to be doing something right to have 1.8 million subs.

Thats pretty amazing nearly 2 million out of 32 million Canadians.

Ok I think is relatively fine not to worry about my 9200 come next year when MPEG4 comes.

It will put Bell out somewhat, but they can take all of those boxes an resell them to Dish Net, or EchoStar (BTW is Dish on MPEG4 yet...?). So the margin will be lower.

BTW when MPEG4 happens do ALL the receiver have to be replaced or only HD....

I have confidence in this b/c they would be in big trouble if they told everyone your receiver is useless, Buy the new ones!.

and I thought about it Canada45, I think I will go straight through Bell for my half price 9200. I know all the sat. techies in my area who do the installs so it shouldn't be a problem.

AND these receivers at half price have a 1 year warranty. So if I have a warranty for 1 year and get it this December.

I can HOPE that the MPEG4 will be done before Dec. / 2007. B/c if I have a warranty that puts me in a better position for the MPEG4 receivers.

BTW out of interest, what does MPEG4 do? Open up more bandwith? A ton more channels and options for BEV to lead the way as the most advanced provider in Canada for TV?

Another thing if there is lots of space on these systems when they switch to MPEG4 that might open up Bell pushing the CRTC for more channels to add to thier new found space on the bandwith. And compression will be non-issue I would think.

Anyways can someone explain the pro's of MPEG4 to me??

woudnt the price drop to $67? or, where are you getting the $77 figure from?

also, with the above 2 options, the $20 a month rental for PVR doesnt really apply, correct? you are more mentioning if i want an additional receiver....or am i misunderstanding?

Hi,
I'm also interested in the 9200 receiver at half price. However I just bought a HD receiver for Videotron (cable) a few months ago. I know Videotron sometimes swap BEV receivers for free. Is there any deal on that from Bell?

Thanks.

I hear you. It sucks but the fact that the guy who installing you is not a full timer with QX West, (if he was the hardware would have been there before you even ordered), fact is there are some places in MB that we don't even have coverage. Send an email to the person I pm'd you, it will help.
