Internet DVD rental

How the hell can you choose 90 films. I signed up to ScreenSelect las night with a 60 day voucher I got from Currys, I found it difficult to put 10 DVD's on.

But I am impressed as 3 DVD have already been dispatched and they were my priority choices.

The three I getting are:
Lost In Translation
Sex Lives Of The Potato Men
Spider-Man 2

One thing that I don't like is that the date on the dispatch and delivery estimate is in the format yyyy-mm-dd and that I have the delivery estimate for Sunday. (but I think I'm been petty)

I love their site. Simple, quick, great choice, I know where I am up to with deliveries, returns, and queues.

I am only on trial and have a very small queue, and so far I have had my top 3 choices except for 1 instance, and I think I got number 4 instead.

I'm also considering their trial offer month for

The problem, is that if you visit at peak times it is almost impossible to use without 404, after 404. Clearly they didn't think to upgrade their systems whilst they were buying out all their rivals.

Lovefilm has been going through a bad patch since May when they changed inventory systems and moved their warehouse, plus enduring fallout from their 3 months for the price of 1 offer. Situation is improving and will probably continue to do so as the company has a great track record, but now may not be the time to start with them.

Screenselect is hanRAB down the best, though DVD 365 and Cinema Paradiso are smaller but not far off.

See www.UK-DVD-Rental-Guide.com for reviews of all (40+ at latest count) of these sites

Thanks Keven for the Site!

I'm currently on the 30 day free trial with screen select, and I can't fault them.

My 30 days is nearly up and I noticed that the site also has a 30 day free trial for dvRAB365 (will be trying them next :))!

Sorry for not replying to the earlier posts from way back in January. I am now with Amazon DVD and their customer service is superb:) I get six films a month for 9.99 which works fine for me, in that I only get time to watch a handful a month!
I always get emails to say they've got their DVD's back and again when they send, so I will stay with them for the time being.
:D
There are a few films/TV series which have 'long wait' but with the price of DVD discs dropping and the superb second hand bargains you get on Amazon and the high street, if I really really can't wait for a DVD I generally buy it with a view to selling it on Amazon if I don't like it
:D

I've just signed up Amazon, and I was wondering if they'll send you all the discs that come with a film? If I rent from my local store, they only give the disc with the film itself on, but not any others. Thanks.

iam not impressed with the lovefilm service, i havent recieved a dvd and they will not return my emails of complaint. i cant find a telephone number to phone them directly and if i dont get this sorted out asap then i wil get billed, grrrrr angry customer!

I have just switched to Amazon. When I cancelled Love Film they told me the average price I had paid to rent each DVD, it was almost the same as Amazon. When I listed my reason for leaving at too expensive they offered a deal the same as Amazon but sine they have less French films, which I also enjoy watching I stopped my subscription.

Ironically their service in the last 2 weeks has been great but I don

lol...I just signed up to Whsmith (i work for them) DVD rental before reading this thread so will have to see how well it works..although I have just found it very easy toset up my rental queue...:)

Have you not seen screenselect are now limiting to 10 discs a month on there 3 disc tariff. That's 1.59 per disc!!!!! i'm pretty sure you can get better value other places!

Lovefilm was the first online rental I tried and I still think it's the best. The web site was far and away the best designed, the rental queue easy to organise, the film reviews helpful (only Webflix has better reviews, but I haven't tried them because their selection isn't very comprehensive). All in all the best online experience.

Unfortunately, they were the first I tried, and I have subsequently paid for DVD rentals from other online companies so I'm not just a freeloader; so my decision to cancel Lovefilm because they sent a film I'd put lower down my queue was probably a mistake. With hinRABight, the queue system only works if you don't mind, for example, a romcom turning up on a day when you really want to watch a martial arts movie (which is exactly what happened to me).

I'd really like to try them again. Since there have been a lot of changes, mergers and takeovers in the past year I think they should waive the "only one trial" rule for a limited period so people who tried the service and found it didn't work for them can have a second bite.

I should have mentioned it was rental. Love internet rental but the downer is not being able to check the disc surface. However, Blockbuster is very good (although, whoever has the Jackie Chan film Dragon Lord, please return it as it has been on my list for months now!)!
:)
