 Awesome!

I have to agree with the casting of Ellen Page in Juno. Great casting! I saw her on I believe it was Conan (could have been Letterman) and she is actually very similar to Juno. They have a lot of the same characteristics and they dry sense of humor :)

:lmao: I loved Patrick Swayze in Too Wong Foo! I thought that if any of them were miscast it was Wesley Snipes. And John Leguizamo was so great as a woman it scared me

Bad: The first thing that comes to mind. Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Brange-freakin'-lina

Worse: Kate Winslet in Titanic...i usually love her but she had no chemistry with Leo.

Best: Johnny Depp in Pirates. This movie would be bad without his talent!

I'll play along:

The good:

--The Harry Potter trio: these kids keep getting better and better. And when I read the later books now (well, 6 and 7), sometimes I can "hear" these actors say some of the lines.

--Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow

--Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in Batman Returns: an awesome, bad-ass performance

--Megan Follows as Anne Shirley in the Anne of Green Gables TV miniseries: She IS Anne.

--Nikki Blonsky as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray

The Bad

--Katie Holmes in Batman Begins. How she got the role in the first place, I have no idea. She was not mature enough-seeming for Christian Bale and was not convincing at all as a young professional.

--Halle Berry as either Storm or Catwoman
--Jake Lloyd in the Phantom Menace
--Ben Affleck as Daredevil
--Jennifer Love Hewitt as Audrey Hepburn (TV movie)

I'm sure there are more for both categories, but those immediately come to mind.

I agree! Jim Carrey was so absolutely fantastic in ESOTSM. You know Kate Winslet gets most of the acting credit in this movie but Jim totally shines for me even though they were both of course amazing.

And no one could've played Amelie like Audrey, she was pitch perfect like crazy!

Also, like previous posters have mentioned -
Vivien Leigh in Gone with the wind, talk about iconic :sigh:
The cast of Closer but especially Clive Owen and Natalie Portman. Gosh, both their scenes were amazing in terms of their performances.

Other really good casting choices
I adored both Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanssen in Lost in Translation.
The boys from Superbad, awesome choices!
Natalie Portman in Beautiful Girls. I think the role could've potentially been annoying but Natalie made her such a scene stealer!
Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in Before Sunrise/Before Sunset. Absolutely perfect, these two.
Gosh there are so many.

But bad casting,
I really disliked Rachel Bilson's casting in The Last Kiss. She ruined the role for me. And I loved her on The OC.
Also agree with Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman.

Good:
- Johnny Depp in absolutely anything he does. He can't not make a good movie.
- The entire cast of Thelma and Louise.
- Kate Hudson in anything she does, she just lights up the screen.

(Wow, am I not specific )

Bad:
- Sarah Michelle Gellar in The Grudge. To me, she just doesn't do the damsel in distress so well.
- Steve Martin/Jim Carrey in anything. Oh how I loathe them.

But noo, Jim Carrey was so good in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! He does melancholy well. He made me feel for his character, and it shows that he can do so much more than act in stupid shows. It's such a waste of his talent.

Another good one will be Audrey Tatou in Amelie - those huge eyes and gamine face made Amelie. And I know, what I said basically means that you can stick any Bambi-eyed actress in the role, but you can't. Audrey exuded quirky and cuteness without it being cloying. No one would have been able to dissolve into water quite that gracefully IMO

I'll agree that Johnny Depp is basically brilliant in anything that he is in. Hmm... Miscast actors... I'm going to have to think about this one some more before I just embarrass myself

The sad part about Shopgirl is that Steve Martin wrote the book and he's still totally wrong for the part!

Good Casting:
The cast of The Departed.
Hugh Jackman in X-Men series
The main cast of the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Bad Casting:
Jessica Alba in The Fantastic Four - just totally wrong for the part

Best again:

Kate and Leo- Titanic
Kristen Dunst- Marie Antoante (not sure about the correct spell)

Laurence Fishburne and Ice Cube as Furious Styles and Doughboy in Boys N the Hood.

Bob DeNiro and Al Pacino as Neil and Vincent in Heat. The rest of the all-star cast filled in nicely, but those two A+ Listers just played so well off of each other, even though they were only in 1 actual scene together.

Jack Nicholson as Col. Nathan R. Jessep in A Few Good Men. The speech itself was brilliant, but the entire character she beamed of don't F with me. "You see Danny, I can deal with the bullets, and the bombs, and the blood. I don't want money, and I don't want medals. What I do want is for you to stand there in that faggoty white uniform and with your Harvard mouth extend me some ****ing courtesy. You gotta ask me nicely."

Val Kilmer Section:
Tommy Cruiser and Val Kilmer as Maverick and Iceman in Top Gun. The arrogance just oozing off the screen from both of them, given the occupation of their characters, made them perfect fits for these rolls.

Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone. Val stole the show. I mean, really. Many times we see names cast in movies and wonder how or why but when we see them we are blown away (Heath) and in this instance, Val Kilmer smoked this role as he smoked Johnny Ringo.

Val Kilmer as Chris Knight in Real Genius. Much like Tombstone, this was the Val Kilmer show. Given the time period, there was no other choice. You could see a remake of sorts work with someone like Jeremy Piven (PCU) or a Justin Long as the sidekick, but Val owned the screen.

The R.I.P. Section:
Brandon as The Crow and Heath as The Joker. Roles that would have changed their careers, easily the greatest performances of their lives.

Angelica Huston was brilliant in Ever After--good choice!

I've noticed that a lot of people are listing people who they just don't like in general as actors...this is more about being miscast, not how you feel toward an actor/actress. Keep that in mind when you are posting.

Best:
Johnny Depp in every role!!
Heath Ledger in Dark Knight
Leo in every role!!
Claire Danes as Juliet
Kate Winslet in every role!!
Brad Pitt - Legend of the Fall
Reese Witherspoon & Josh Lucas in Sweet Home Alabama
Robert Pattinson in Twilight

Worst:
Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman
Lindsey Lohen in everything lately
Nic Cage - Ghost Rider (he's not a bad actor just thought they coulda got a younger better looking guy for the role)
Jessica Alba in Fantastic Four
Kristen Stewart in Twilight (don't shoot me I love this movie yet sometimes I wish they coulda cast someone who better portrays the emotions of bella then her)

ITA with everything you said! The should have just left it alone. It was a perfect flick before they got their grubby hands on it.

Best Cast:
Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow
Orlando Bloom as Will Turner
Keira knightley as Elizabeth Swann
Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennt
and all other guys in POTC and P&P

Worst Cast:
I have no idea!

I have to say as far as good casting...

- all for The Departed, because it was simply amazing.
- Josh, Ben, and Kate in Pearl Harbor. I don't know why the casting for this is a face, but I thought it was a great call in casting those three. They all fit so well.
- Kate and Leo for Titanic, cuz um I could never NEVER see anyone else as their roles. Like picturing any movie that I absolutely could not change roles... it's them.

worst casting...

umm Steve Martin and Claire Danes in Shopgirl. That was absolutely the worst, most boring, dullest movie I have ever seen in my entire life, and both of them in this looked completely ridiculous and out of place together. The roles were just horrible for them.
