If there was another Ninja Turtles series what would you like to see?

Karai is one of the most important Ninja Turtles villains. Taking her out of the new show would be a big mistake. And she was in one of the SNES games.
 
Actually, going by something I read on the Technodrome forums, between the first two volumes of the comic, there are a total of 54 confirmed-canon issues. Trim off two issues (I'll go with the Michelangelo one-shot and, as much as I like it, the Donatello one-shot), and they can adapt one issue per episode over 52 episodes. This is, of course, if they go with a straight-forward (slightly toned down) adaption.

(I also got this idea after noticing that City At War and Volume 2 are both exactly 13 episodes, perfect for season-length arcs.)

My point is, you CAN accomplish a lot in 52 episodes with a Ninja Turtles series.
 
Totally, Karai is as important to the TMNT mythos as characters like Harry Osborn or Black Cat are to Spider-Man. Disqualifying her as well as any other character not featured in the 80s toon is kind snobbish. And keep in mind most of the kids any new TMNT toon will be aimed at won't be old enough to remember the old toon. If anything they'll have grown up on the 2K3 series.

Personally, if Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang do show up in a new show, I kinda hope they're kept as separate villains from Shredder and the Foot. It's hard to justify why the leader of a secret society of trained assassins would entrust vital missions to a couple of deformed street thugs.

It's okay to prefer the 80s toon but I really wish people would stop treating as the One True TMNT as if the comics, movies and new toon were all cheap rip-offs.
 
You are allowed to like a character if it pleases you, but I am, too, and I am sorry, but I am not that big of a fan of the modern ninja turtles series, but to each their own, so I need to respect that.

Any new TMNT show that tries to do what the 2k3 show will fail. It'll be like The Batman. 4Kids did treat TMNT very good and I doubt anyone else will unless the turtles become a fad again.

I would like a mix between the 2k3 show and the 80s show. More mutants, more "fun" etc. In fact I really liked the Kids WB pitch and wouldn't have minded seeing that. Of course we got the better deal out of it but I bet it would have still been a good show even if it had only been 52/65 episodes like all KWB shows.
 
Your sole reason for dismissing characters like Karai, Hun, Armaggon and Bishop for a new TMNT series is "They aren't characters I personally grew up with"? Sorry, but that's a classic case of "retro snobbery" (adapting the attitude of "The original is always superior, no matter what"). You're allowed to like or dislike whatever you choose to, but what makes it retro snobbery is dismissing any new characters or ideas simply because they're new and not what you're personally familiar with.

Keep in mind that the 1987 syndicated TMNT series is 20 years old now, so naturally, the viewers growing up now aren't going to have the same nostalgic fondness for the '87 series that you and others from your generation have, and since the new TMNT series will be airing on Nickelodeon, it's intended audience is going to be kids 1st and nostalgia buffs 2nd (if even that). Also, as previously stated, the 87 TMNT series was not the true, definitive version of Ninja Turtles. Furthermore, that series has been out of production for over a decade now. People seriously need to stop clinging to that 1 show.

I wouldn't mind it if the new TMNT series borrowed 1 or more elements from the syndicated show, but I would prefer if the new series tried to find it's own voice rather than just be a retread if the 1987 series, or even a continuation of the 2003 series.
 
Would anyone love to see the Archie TMNT comics adapted into episodes? It could use the same VA's for the Turtles as the original cartoon while adapting all those Archie stories into eps.

The Archie series went a little overboard with the amount of mutants, even moreso than the original cartoon, but there were some great stories there that people never got to read simply because the old Archie issues are now hard to come by.
 
The Archie comic is so overrated by people who grew up reading it. Its good but far from being as good as people claim it to be especially those who consider it the best TMNT adaptation or one of the best. Its a decent but thats it.

I would like some characters like Armaggon, Cudley and Ninjara show up in a new cartoon but not an adaptation of archie. Archie didn't have that many mutants either, it was filled with anthromorphic animals but not necessarily mutants.

I would like to see more mutants in the new cartoon, especially those from the toyline like Mondo Gecko, Ace Duck, Ray fillet.
 
The really ironic thing about all this, Karai is not even knew... she's been around almost as long as the '87 series has. In the original Eastman and Laird comic book.

And the people who call the Old Toon the original and dismiss everything else has always been weird to me. The comic book is the original.

I think Karai is more than a safe bet to stick around. She already has the longevity.

I have a soft spot for the Old Toon too, but this franchise is the most notorious case of Adaptation Displacement that I have ever seen.
 
Not to mention that in the comics, Karai is by far the more prominent character. The Shredder appears in 3 stories spread across four issues published in the first five years of the property--4 stories over 6 issues if you're being generous and count the "Worms of Madness" arc. Karai's prescence is much more consistent--heck, by the time her debut story ends she's already been in more issues than ol' buckethead.

And while we're on that...what if the new series used Karai as Big Bad? It'd be a pretty radical direction for the character (TMNT 2003 season 4 aside), and might make for interesting stories. Plus, there are so few female big bads around, it'd be a change from the norm.
 
So I'm going to have to ask, what do you guys realistically see happening to the TMNT franchise after the 2011 movie hits?

If 4kids still has the TMNT license by then, would they go for a clean slate with a new continuity? Or will Mirage shop TMNT to some other animation company?
 
Depends on how long 4kids has the TMNT license.

If they can get out of their financial woes by then and Playmates doesn't screw them over again, I can see them trying another continuation of the series. I don't think it'll take place after Back to the Sewers though. They'll most likely fit it in between Season 5 and BttS, with the majority of it being characters potlights as opposed to a running plot.

If the license expires though, I'd imagine Mirage will find another interested party to create a new TMNT show. The studio I predict would get it is Moonscoop, since they already had a run with the Fantastic Four cartoon. It might also end up on Nicktoons since CN doesn't seem interested in outside properties and Disney has Marvel to fill that void up now.
 
A TMNT series produced by Moonscoop would be interesting to see, actually.

I think that the next Ninja Turtles series should be it's own thing and not a follow-up to TMNT: Back to the Sewers. That series had a proper ending and I doubt that the 4Kids series would get any better after BttS.

And no, there wouldn't have to be another re-telling of the Turtles' origin. The producers could treat this new series the way that Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes was handled; with the assumption that everyone is already familiar with the characters' origin by this time and that the audience already knows what they need to know from the new movie.
 
That would be an cool indeed, I'm rather dissapointed that the 2K3 series dumped that plot line in favour of the rather bland Demon Shredder. You could even follow season four's lead and have her become the new Shredder to keep the boys in marketing happy.
 
I wish April O'Neil was slightly older again.

In the 2k3 cartoon she was 23, in the original cartoon she was 28. It always made sense to see April as an adult.

I keep getting the feeling the cartoons want to make April young and younger. God forbid they ever make a TMNT cartoon with a teen April. Imagine April in High School befriending the Turtles? :shrug:
