If there was another Ninja Turtles series what would you like to see?

The only major gripe I had w/ the 2K3 series was Utrom Shredder. When "Secret Origins" debuted I was hoping that the evil Utrom was a red herring but twas not to be. I get they were probably angling for a Shredder-Krang hybrid villain. Overall, the Shredder was a supreme bad*****. I only wish he were human. Hopefully The Shredder will be human in Nick's CGI series.

I've always had a lot of trouble envisioning what a third TMNT series would be like, because it always winds up coming out too much like the 80s one or too much like the 2K3 one.

Like I would say, "Make it like Wolverine and the X-Men!" but...that's 2K3. They even have had some of the same crew members.

I guess I would make it kind of Spectacular Spider-Man or even The Batman-ish. Generally villain-of-the-day-ish, but with an overall arcing story as well, with as big of a rogues' gallery as possible, drawing on as many sources as possible - Mirage, the 80s cartoon, the Archie comics, the 2K3 cartoon - and all with total redesigns. I don't want to see just the same old villains brought back - I want them reimagined.

I don't want a straight adaptation of the Mirage comics, because that's why we have the Mirage comics :P I like adaptations that build on what came before and make something entirely new out of it rather than just following by the letter.

And assuming the action could be rendered well enough I'd want it CGI this time. Not the same look as the 2007 movie but in that ballpark.

I couldn't care less what company made it, as long as it was done well.

Speaking of Bishop, as much as I liked him as a main villain, it always bothered me how he had that complete 180 in Fast Forward. Suddenly, he goes from paranoid alien fighter to intergalactic ambassader for Earth? If they had shown signs of his own regret or some more hints to this change, I'd probably accept it more rather than be left wondering about it.

At least it finally brought a good end for Stockman. Poor dude deserved that at least.

Basically something like the 03 series, only without the Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers nonsense. Preferably with an actual ending this time around as well. It had an interesting story (minus the random filler) but it just didn't know when to end and keep dragging things out (a fate a lot of shows seem to have and don't know when to quit). At the very least, it needs at least as much story as the 03 show had.

I think it should've been based on the Archie comics. They did a good job at taking the characters and stories from the cartoon but making them a bit serious and less corny.

Lotus Blossom appeared in the 80's cartoon in 1989, while Karai didn't appear in the comics until 1992.

The two characters are similar, but it's pretty much a coincidence.

Yeah, that's the problem I see too. The original series and 2k3 series covered both extremes of the Turtle universe, and its hard to imagine what a third series could bring to the table that's different than the first two.

The other problem is the 2k3 series also adapted a lot of the major comic plotlines, so a new series based on the comics would also feel like a rehash, even if they do it in a slightly different way.

Its why I feel the 2k3 series should just continue a bit longer, its way too soon for another complete re-launch. By 2011, the show will have been canceled for 2 years...which isn't THAT big a gap.

I also feel bad for the 2k3 voice actors, they did the main cast perfectly and I can't imagine a whole new cast playing the Turtles, Splinter, April, and co. again. Plus Veronica Taylor isn't on any hit show anymore, and I feel she did a good April.

I don't know, I feel like the 2003 series has basically run its course. Fast Forward felt like a step down from the first 5 seasons. And the BTTS season felt like a step even further down. I think better to quit before the majority of the episodes are subpar (much like the Simpsons has become).

I agree with you about Veronica Taylor's April, but life goes on. You can't live in the past. We all knew that the series wasn't going to go on forever, and 6 years (2003-2009) a good long run. If the new TMNT live action movie does well, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if a new series were to follow, and I personally wouldn't care who did it as long as it were done well.

Also, I agree with ABrown that the 2K3 series (as much as I enjoyed it) has simply run it's course. After Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers, I can't imagine things getting any better for the 4Kids series from there. I think that an all new take on the Turtles starting fresh with a clean slate would be for the best.

Well aside from that one flashback they showed, you do realize it was 100 years. A man can change his total opinion on life in 100 years.

Personally, I thought the idea was fine in concept, even if the episode didn't do a terribly good job at making it seem natural; Bishop may have been zealous, but he was always more pragmatic than dogmatic when it came to his mission--he was willing to make deals with the Federation, after all. If diplomacy proved to be a better approach than violence, then I can definitively see him choosing the former.

Personally, I think they struck the right balance with the character: he was extreme enough to fit in the "antagonist" category, but had enough genuine belief in his mission to stop him from being another Shredder, and for his temporary alliances with the turtles to seem believable and consistent. I do wish we'd have gotten to see more of him in Fast Forward though, or even better, an appearance during Back to the Sewer, to see how the turtles would have dealt with their knowledge of his future.

Personally I don't mind if there's another TMNT show for awhile, considering Nick/Paramount owns it now..and I'm afraid I just don't trust them with the property..I fear they may butcher it.

(On the bright side this does give me the insintive to finally buy the 4kids series on DVD.)

And I also agree that 2K3 has run it's course. There's some more comic stories that would be worth adapting but it's clear the budget is going to get worse and worse and the writing has been lacking in quality for a while now. It's not going to get better, so they should quit while it's still a good cartoon.

As for the current cast. They're fantastic but I never thought any TMNT cast would be even comparable to the 80s cartoon cast so it's very likely a future TMNT cast could be even better. There's really no telling. I think we might get some more video games before the next live-action movie so the cast will at least still get more work potentially.

I think they could potentially make a show even more like the comics the way The Spectacular Spider-Man has for Spider-Man. Yes many things feel rehashed but it doesn't take away from the quality of the show by any means.

But this is why I think if they revived TMNT again they need to pull from the comics and the 80s cartoon. That may also feel rehashed but as long as it's handled well it could turn out great. Imagine a more serious take for the 80s TMNT characters? That sounds pretty cool right? Accompany that with some elements from the comics and borrow a few of the more unique ideas of 2K3 and you could have a really great TMNT for a new generation of fans that the old fans (even fans of the 80s cartoon that foolishly never gave 2K3 the time of day) would also enjoy.

Another thing to consider that a new incarnation of the TMNT will most likely have its share of new characters. I have no idea what sort of characters those would be, but the potential exists for something really special.

In any case, after hearing today's news, I began thinking about perpetually-in progress epic Gargoyles/TMNT fan-fiction crossover, and I began wondering which Gargoyles concepts that TMNT hadn't used could be adapted. Which brought me to stuff like the Foot as The Illuminati (Shredder would be an enforcer, but not the man at the top) and more time travel, which I've felt the series has never really exploited.

I'm really betting on the return of Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady. Peter Laird is no longer in charge so those characters aren't off-limits.

I get this strong feeling the new Nick show will be a mix of the original cartoon characters and its comic roots.

Makes me wonder if any 2k3 characters will be reimagined, like Hun or Bishop. Maybe not, eh.
