If there was another Ninja Turtles series what would you like to see?

I can't really see Shredder as an Illuminatus, he's far too arrogant and power mad to make even the token gesture of subservience that membership would require. Personally I think Agent Bishop would make a much better fit with his mysterious longevity, conspiracy background and ends justify the means attitude. Plus the Earth Protection Force logo looks eerily familiar...

I don't think the Nick series will be bad.

It may not have the continuity or action sequences the 4kids show had, (I wonder how the fighting will be pulled off in CG), but I'm sure it'll be decent enough.

Nick spent $60 million on the franchise, they're not going to screw it up.

And considering how the Illuminati tend to operate, Shredder wouldn't be one. But someone else in the Foot close to him might be. Kind of like how the President wasn't a member, but Quincy Hemings, the White House steward was.

I would like something between the old toon and the new one. Something comedic, but isn't afraid to be well of action. A random arc or two wouldn't kill them, either.

I guess I would want some thing like this: (From serious to comedic)

Mirage Turtles
2K3 Turtles
Nick Turtles
Old toon turtles

I don't want a repeat of any of the other series. I like that every TMNT series is different from the others.

I'm not sure how Armaggon got put in with the other characters anyway. He's not in the new cartoon at all. He's from the Archie comics. He was in an SNES game too, if I recall correctly. And didn't he even get a toy in the 80s?

In my opinion, the 2k3 cartoon did just about everything right in terms of tone and action. The one area I would like to see worked on is characterization, especially for villains like the Shredder. I would also like to see a greater emphasis placed on the Foot Clan.

I have no problem seeing 80s/Archie characters brought in and updated for the new show, in fact I expect it.

In terms of animation, I can only hope they put enough money into the production, as well as come up with a good art direction.

I just think the return of "animal mutants" would be a good idea. That's something the 2k3 series avoided for the most part.

Groundchuck and Dirtbag might be worth re-visiting, as they seem to be low-key villains despite their numerous appearances.

The 2K3 series producers intentionally kept the mutant count low in order to keep the Turtles unique, and I think that was a good idea, since everybody on the show being a mutant would take away the coolness of being one. After all, if New York City is crawling with mutant animals, what's so special about being a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?

Most of those other mutant animals existed mainly to sell more toys anyway.

It would kind of interesting if they made the new show in the Teen Titans/Batman:Brave & The Bold/Super Hero Squad Squad style. Have it be light, but not necessarily cheesy.

Is it such a big deal if the Turtles find other mutants like them? The Turtles mutations wasn't a once-in-a-lifetime thing, the idea that the Utrom's mutagen would mutate an animal and cause them to grow more intelligent would make sense for anything.

Most of those toys oddly never got an episode in the old show.

However would you object to see characters showing up?

Armaggon (shark mutant from Archie series)
Groundchuck and Dirtbag (bull and mole mutant from 3 episodes in old toon and videogames)
Antrax, Wyrm, Scumbug (bug mutants)

etc.

For me it's kinda like having dozens of Kryptonians running around Metropolis. If the turtles are running into new animal mutants every other week, they start to feel less unique.

Kind of, yeah. New York City having mutant animals lurking around every corner would take away the uniqueness of being a mutant turtle.

Think of it this way: Would the Powerpuff Girls still seem as cool if every kid in Townsville had Chemical X superpowers? Would the Power Rangers still seem cool if every teenager in Angel Grove were part of a super sentai team? Would Inspector Gadget be anything special if every detective on the force were a cyborg?

It would depend. If said characters' appearances were spread across several episodes and the writers didn't rely too much on them and they actually made a significant contribution to the plot(s), then no, I wouldn't object. However, if said characters' only existed on the show to justify their presence as over priced plastic figurines on the toy store shelves and the episodes began to adhere to the formula of "Turtles meet the-fill-in-the-blank-mutant animal freak of the week", then yes, I would object.

Moving on, is there any particular group of voice actors you'd like to see voicing the turtles? Should the new production go back to the old cartoon's L.A. pool (which, honestly speaking, is much different from how it was in 1996) or should it specifically look for new group? Do any of you have particular voice actors in mind? For one, Keith David as Leatherhead would be awesome, particularly since we now know he can do cajun, if necessary. ;)

I think it depends on the direction of the new series. I've already said elsewhere that I'd like to see the 2K3 team keep on voicing the characters where applicable, but if the series is going to be stoofy like the 80s toon then I'd say they shouldn't bother. That could only bring down the legacy the 2K3 series will leave behind.

I'm not sure Nickelodeon could use any of the 2K3 cast for union reasons, much the same way 4Kids couldn't get any of 80s cast for Turtles Forever. They could in theory use a lot of the VAs from the CGI movie, excluding Mako of course and probably big name celebrities like Gellar and Stewart.
