It's a very good bike for what it is. It's not a 'real' sportbike, like a GSX-R, it's a 'standard' with sporty styling (though it's sporty enough to have fun). It's light and easy to handle. It's very reliable and should last a long time. It's a good bike to learn to ride on. It gets better mileage than a bigger bike. And, as you say, it's really pretty.
The drawback to a 250 is that you can't really cruise at highway speed. The Kawi 250 will probably do 80 mph, but it's not made to go that fast for long distances. It's not comfortable, or safe. It doesn't mean you can't go far, only you have to stick to secondary roads. But if you plan to commute to work or school over 10 miles of Interstate, this is not a good bike for that.
