One of my favourite films. It's based on a novel by Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote American Psycho, so it's meant to be dark and pessimistic, conjuring up things and fears that occur in college/university. I've actually witnessed people acting in similar ways to the characters in the film, so it's not a totally inaccurate portrayal. The dialogue and style is amazing.
The rape scene is horrible but it's an honest assessment of what happens... I call it rape but this alcohol fuelled behaviour is a common thing in uni so that people (particularly girls) hardly know what they're doing. I find it as distressing as you probably do.
Star Wars Episode 1 is not defined by one character. It looks at Anakin as a child and so I think is a deliberate kid's film. If you look at it from that perspective, JJB is entertaining. And it has some cool stuff in it, such as Liam Neeson and his death duel. It's tons better than the following films.
I thought this was great for 2/3. The horror scenes weren't so good but it was an interesting plot development - a pro-apocalypse fundamentalist who believed things should take its natural course. Amazing visually and musically.
