I want to be happy, but I just can't open my mind to 'London' culture.
I don't like the fashion or the way people buy coffee and then walk around with it in a little cardboard cup with a stupid lid on the top with a little hole. I hate the London Underground when it is rush hour; I feel like a sardine. I hate the way people avoid eye contact when they walk past me and they rarely return my smiles. The types of clothes people wear (the fashion) and the way some young men and boys do their hair and wear skinny jeans or wear their jeans really low so their boxers and asses are bulging out I hate. I can't stand the pretentiousness of this place, for example people sneer at me when they see me wearing 'walking' shoes; black trainer-like shoes that are good for going for long walks in, perfect for living in the countryside and very practical. But nooo, I have to buy a pair of impractical, overpriced, pretentious brown leather slip on shoes!
I don't like the way there are big parks here where people can go to and pretend they are in the countryside. I don't like the idea that they think they are being green or cultured or anything because they fly a kite in a park or go for a walk. I hate the way everyone is so health crazed and goes for runs along the street with a bloody iPod strapped to their arm. I mean, I exercise too, but I hate them! At least I wear proper clothes, not specially designed designer tracksuits!
I hate the awful free papers (and the cheap ones) that all Londoners read on the underground! Stuff like the Metro and London Lite (which has gone bust I think haha!) are such awful papers. They are all about celebrities and they have such ridiculous and extreme opinions and so little on real news!
Lastly (there is stuff I have forgotten though!), I hate the way Londoners don't believe there is a whole bloody country outside their stupid city!
I'm going to be living here for 3 more months! God!
I was enjoying your answer until you started being offensive back to me, Chris! I know they are all little things...but they all build up! This is what I need help with. I'm not asking to be sworn at, I'm asking for advice on how I can open my mind and accept this culture.
I'm not grouping everyone together. I acknowledge that the boy I see with straightened hair and skinny jeans is not the health crazed career obsessed woman who goes for a run with an Ipod strapped to her arm every morning at 5 before having bran flakes and soy milk before going to work.
