make sure that you can kick off and make extra points...on jv that's basically all you have to do...i've played football for the last 3 years as the starting o-lineman since i was a freshman and we've never had a great kicker until this year...if you really practice and you make your PAT's then your coach will call on you to kick in the game, if not have fun sitting on the bench because if you can't hit it consistently, they'll go for 2pts. every time...once you got that down start trying 30-35yd. field goals...at varsity we had a good kicker who was a junior this year who could hit an occasional 50 yarder, but he was inconsistent and sometimes couldn't hit a PAT, the most important thing with kicking is consistency, period!
P.S. your teamates will basically you if you lose by 1 or a couple of points and you missed your kicks, so make em' all and they will appreciate you no doubt.
