How good of a kicker do I have to be for my J.V. high school team?

I'm going into high school next year and just wanted to know how good I have to be to be the starting kicker.
Thanks.
How far do I have to kick a field goal?

Ok Dino, I don't know why you posted your question on my answer. It has nothing to do with what I asked. Anyway, most kickers are soccer players. If your good in soccer you should have a chance in making your team.

As long as you make good field goals. Just practice a lot on distance and accuracy. You should at least be making 30 yard field goals.

Since your only going to be in high school, you should only be expected to make about 30 yard field goals and occasionally 40 yard. You definitely have to make your PAT's though. Kickers can make or break a football team so practice and work hard over the summer.

make sure that you can kick off and make extra points...on jv that's basically all you have to do...i've played football for the last 3 years as the starting o-lineman since i was a freshman and we've never had a great kicker until this year...if you really practice and you make your PAT's then your coach will call on you to kick in the game, if not have fun sitting on the bench because if you can't hit it consistently, they'll go for 2pts. every time...once you got that down start trying 30-35yd. field goals...at varsity we had a good kicker who was a junior this year who could hit an occasional 50 yarder, but he was inconsistent and sometimes couldn't hit a PAT, the most important thing with kicking is consistency, period!
P.S. your teamates will basically you if you lose by 1 or a couple of points and you missed your kicks, so make em' all and they will appreciate you no doubt.
