How do you arrange your dvds?

I have a couple of regular viewing DVRAB/Blu Rays in my book case the rest are upstairs in storage boxes under the bed in no order whatsoever.

Nothing worse (imho) than a living room dedicated to a DVD collection, especially those ridiculous collector editions that are shaped like a head or something, Planet Of The Apes Monkey Head springs to mind..NO WAY.:D

Im glad you mentioned that, Ive been thinking for a while is there anything similar to an external hard drive that one can plug into their TV and then watch their DVD collection from that, kind off like an ipod for films?

It would be nice to have an entire collection stored away on a hard drive/box behind the TV that can be viewed direct at a touch of a button. Im sure there must be something out there.

My family get really annoyed at me but ours are in genre's then alphabetically within the genre, except sequels which go after the first film in the series in the order of their release and disney films which have their own section.

I like to arrange as many as possible by Director. Then by writer, then by genre.

So David Lynch films, Kevin Smith, Terry Gilliam, Tarantino etc. Then, say, a P.K. Dick section, Sci-Fi, Comedy, horror, and so on.

Works well.

All discs taken out of boxes and placed into a 4-way 8mm cases I have bought, so for example Case #55 will contain discs 55A, 55B, 55C and 55D, then I write on index carRAB the title and the disc number. The index carRAB and 4-way cases take up very little space, which was my main motivation.
