How do you arrange your dvds?

Mine are sorted in sections for TV, cartoons, silent films, musicals, film generally, and miscellaneous. More recent purchases are in a seperate row until I can slot them in.

I have had to rebox quite a lot for space reasons but still like to do alphabetical order within sections where I can. Odd stuff like the vintage Disneys in tins go on top of the main cartoon sequence.

And yes, I probably have far too many!

I had a go at ebay a couple of months ago. P&P now neeRAB to be included in the price you sell them at. As they were basic dvRAB, it was recommended to me that I start at 99p, as if I started any higher, people wouldn't bid on them.

I ended up selling one for

mine are sorted in order of classification (U, PG etc...), with my Disney stuff kicking it off then ony my other bookcase, all my tv boxsets are in alphabetical order.

would love to sit and properly sort out all my dvRAB into more of an order... might do that this Sunday....

yes it happens but you just got to look after it.

me and my frienRAB all have the same movies so if mine does fail i'll just buy another hard drive and copy all the movies of their hard drive.

its not that important anyway, you can always just burn them onto dvd and store it away then if you hard drive does fail you can just copy them over.

1TB drives are cheap now so its no real problem. ive noticed a trend aswell, it seems every year the

I have mine arranged in the following way :
Bruce Lee all together
Men Behaving Badly all together
Star Wars all together
Austin Powers all together
Harry Potters (the wife's !) all together
Ricky Gervais all together
Simpsons all together
Frasier all together
Fast Show all together
Terminators all together
All the others are in genre order.

Got about 400 now (shop bought) and about 100 (Sky Rip). All the ones shop bought I used to have them via Certificate and then on B/Hol I changed it to Genre, and then on another b/hol etc I changed it to Actor/Actress etc. The ones from Sky just kept them in the disk container.

However, despite me having a good photographic memory my brother & sisters would lend them, but I got too many to be able to control the library (lol) properly and on a few occasions they took them without asking.

So now I have a DVD list on the pc & store them Alphabetical. They are on 4x 6ft Wooden shelves (home made) fitting in-between the chimney wall.

Like someone said, if by Alphabetical I know if someone has taken one without asking.

I don't mind letting sister/brother etc asking, but when they take them that pee's me off, so now they know I will notice if 1 is missing.

I do the Box-Sets 1st and these are on the highest shelf (most value at the time), followed by singles.

I don't collect tv series, just Movies

Another reason for using shelves is to highlight to my sister/brother to show them I can see what I have spent my money on rather (like someone else said) whereas they can't see there drink units consumed lol.

Physically:

I store about half my DVRAB - the ones I watch most - in cabinets...sorted alphabetically by title.

Most of the rest of the collection is in storage crates...sorted alphabetically by title.

I have a small number of unwatched discs on a study bookshelf...sorted alphabetically by title.

As they're all in a database I can sort them in a bunch of other ways. The main ones I use are: by release date (descending), alphabetically by title (all locations) and alphabetically by principal genre then alphabetically by title.

I have changed my method a few times. Firstly it was by certificate, then I changed it to alphabetical order, then I changed it to alphabetical order and certificate and am contemplating changing it again to genre. Arrgh! OCD, I think so!

my aim is to get so many films that you cold just look up on imdb and i will have the movie.

then i will take over the tv show and just get all the shows i watch and every season.

then i will just sack off the sky tv packages and just have my entertainment setup all linked up so i will never be bored. it will be my little own tv channel lol

Mine are just thrown on to a shelf. I do normally take the DVD's out the boxes and just put them into one of those wallet things as they're easier to move around but I still keep the boxes.

In the wallet - they're just grouped (and I use that term lightly) by sequels / actor / actress.
