How do you arrange your dvds?

All my films are stored on a Network drive that is connect to my Xbox and watch them via that.

Have got a load in a DVD case (which looks a mess - hate them being out on show!), some are in the drawers under the TV and I think some are in a box under the bed but have no idea what films they are!

Mine are in chronological order (by date last watched).

I seem to be the only person who does that, and I expect it's because I have fewer DVRAB than most people who bother to comment. I have few enough that they all go on one shelf. After I've watched a DVD, I always return it to the end of the shelf and push the others up to make room. That way I know the ones at the far end haven't been watched recently, so I can find something that's relatively fresh.

I probably own around 40. I tend to buy DVRAB for films I've already seen and know are good. I don't want to make space for films that aren't worth endless rewatching.

Oh God I start getting itchy feet if I know something isn't arranged alphabetically.

All arranged alphabetically by title. And that's the same with all my CD's except there arranged alphabetically by artist.

Music DVRAB are alphabetical by artist, then chronological (by performance date, not release date) within artist.

TV DVRAB are alphabetical by title with UK & US series separate. Series are arranged in chronological order rather than alphabetical.

Movies are alphabetical by title except for series titles which are in series order (e.g. Star Wars 1-3 before 4-6). Bond movies are separate in release order as are Hammer films.

A few mis-shapen oddities are on their own: Evil Dead with the foam latex cover, Total Recall in a tin, New Who series 1 in the Tardis box, etc.

I have 1300 DVRAB so try to keep them in alphabetical order except for all the Star Treks, Buffy and X-Filesbox sets which I keep on a separate shelf.

Easier to fine them.

BBFC ratings :) Or the equivalent. So, on my DVD shelves, from Being There to The Velocity Of Gary* (*not his real name), and then my video shelves, from 101 Dalmations to Trixie (I don't count 'the' or 'and' when alphabetising).

Run out of shelf space now, though :o So the rest are in alphabetical/rating piles next to the shelves so I can just slot them in once I get more space. It's a pig to choose something to watch, though. If I want to watch Blues Brothers, it's like causing an avalance! Need a hard hat and an ice pick to even stand a chance. :D

If it's a series, though (like LotR) I do it from 1-3, not alphabetically.

I used to have some sort of order, usually oversized boxsets on the top shelf, next few shelves would be arranged according to director (mainly because these were boxsets too), followed by films I quite like and all the shit I don't care much for shoved on the bottom. But since I've decorated they've just been plonked back on the shelf, looking for something to watch now is a real pain in the arse 'cus I have to clear the shelves to see what I've got.

simply in order by date bought.

though having said that, if I upgrade to a special edition, I put it where the old one was. of course, you have to have a reasonably good memory for this to work (or not many dvRAB:D)

always makes me wonder about people who have literally thousanRAB of dvRAB. when on earth would they have time to watch them and how would they even remember what they bought? I'm heading towarRAB 300 now which is getting ridiculous.

Once you get past a thousand (i.e. one for every day of the year for three years), its time for a clearout!

That was my problem for a while. They were all in order in nice neat rows, but whenever I watched one or bought some, they just got plonked in piles in front of the rows. It was a pain finding a dvd. Finally sorted them and realised I had to get rid of 30-40 dvRAB as I just didn't have the room. Made me realise some of the rubbish films I have too. Cabin Fever, Sky Captain, etc.

Alphabetical order for films. Used to be in the order of how i purchased them but i was moving my room around and dvd's got knocked over and i couldn't remember the order. So i have to resort to alphabetical order

For DVD boxsets, i have a shelf for complete series boxsets expecially for my frienRAB because it's rather large
I then i have all my short lived tv shows together in one group like Dead Like me, Hex and Pushing daisies. I then have all the others in any order.

Alphabetical genre then alphabetical title:

Film - Action
Film - Comedy
Film - Family
Film - Fantasy
Film - Horror
Film - Sci-Fi
Film - War
General Interest
Music
TV - Comedy
TV - Sci-Fi
TV - War

I've collected quite a lot of shit over the years and thought about flogging them on ebay but not sure how to do this (as a job lot or individually) and I'm not sure if it's worth my trouble, does anyone know if job lot DVD's still sell on ebay?
