Hot rumor: The Nokia N8 with Symbian^3

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, doesn't the SF have two (at least) teams working on separate versions; one team working with S^4 (Qt), while the other one working on S^3?
It's like saying, why did MS let out WM6.5.3 when they could've spend that time instead on finishing up WM7?
The SF teams could easily be working on implementing the features and everything else to Qt, thus accelerating the release of S^4.
They are just doing double the work since they are working on things to work on S^3, and then port, or re-write that over to work on S^4
Does anyone know if S^3 will be update-able/upgradeable to S^4?

All in all, I've grown to not like carrier branded devices too much. I avoid them.

Nokia crippling their phones as per AT&T wishes, E71x-style, is not going to endear me to their product.

Wierd, huh, here in the U.S, with the carriers dominating? Still, I think people are slowly turning away from that model. It won't happen overnight, it'll take maybe a decade, but it'll change, ironically enough, thanks to Google.

I'm waiting for Nokia to impress me, I hope they do, but somehow I have a feeling that they'll underwhelm once again, and all I'll keep reading then is: 'just wait for Symbian 4...'

Mine boots with 74.7MB...maybe you need to change your product code and update the FW.

My Mini boots with 58.4MB (after I "close all" in Handy taskman).

No complaints here.

Major overhaul as in decreasing the amount of clicks it takes one to get to a certain place/menu, not UX, as I stated, and also some modifications to the UX. Instead of clicking/pressing 5 different buttons to get to something, it would probably be reduced to 1 or 2. S^4 of course is going to be a great overhaul as it has to be implemented to QT libraries, and probably different layouts, etc. (unless if they just change the UX).

There's around 30 Symbian^1 phones either announced or already in the market. Does that number seem way high to you? That's because most of those are being sold in Japan.

Nokia won't be alone with Symbian^3 phones even if Samsung or SE stop making them.

The N900 isn't a consumer device. I don't care what its specs are, because it's irrelevant in this discussion.

The E6, (I'm guessing you mean E5?) Isn't available yet, is it? So, no, it doesn't exist where I live.

I think it's way too early to consider microsoft as being back in the game. The new triad is the same as the old one, apple/google/rim are the market leaders and innovators.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Which in regards to giving S^3 to Nokia is taking time away from working or finishing up S^4. By the time S^4 gets out, it'll be, once again, outdated and even unpolished just like the rest of the Symbian series, only to need a firmware update to fix it.

Lol, guys, it is Nokia we are speaking of, not HTC XD so don't expect a lot from them. They are taking baby steps compared to the rest of the competition lol.
So far the N8-00 is having good internal hardware (ie specs), but not the hardware, then again it's Nokia.
I guess everything is going to kick of with S^4 ;), and also with MeeGo :]. I guess Samsung will once again make the kick *** phone compared to Nokia lol (ie i8910) XD.

So these are the upcoming devices for 2010:
- iPhone "HD" (had to include it lol)
- Motorola Shadow
- Motorola Droid 2 (Halloween)
- Nokia N8-00
- HTC EVO
- LG Panther (September?)
- Maemo/MeeGo?

Nokia is going to have some serious competition. Then again, they haven't been for a longgg time.

I agree that Apple and Google have been innovative, but how has RIM been innovative lately? I don't use their products on a daily basis so I may have missed something though. :)
