Hot rumor: The Nokia N8 with Symbian^3

I'm really tempted to try one, as tons of my friends are on the messenger.

..and I can't get them all to switch to Gtalk so I can use my "Ovi" chat.

I gather you meant software? With the single tap interaction, multiple homescreens, pinch zoom, faster performance, a bit more eye candy in transitions, Ovi Maps, Ovi Store (hopefully the 2.0), semi-transparent notifications/layering I do think its COULD be fairly competitive even on software terms. What is really missing? Free form widgets and oh so cool live wall papers? Boo-ha-haa... :D : P I know I know, not quite that simplistic but I think S^3 is actually a pretty major step.

I don't know... I would be excited if the phone was out next week.

The way it has been with over six months delay, plus Viipottaja's three months of bug ironing, how many other phones will be available with the same or better specs? And how many more rumored?

Nokia's problem right now is that the industry is growing too fast. Six months is an eternity. Only a Rich Early Adopter Masoquist would be willing to beta test after waiting an eternity.

My eye right now is at the Motorola Shadow. Similar or better specs and most likely available before the N8.

The N8 announcement shows that Nokia is not dead yet. But they need more than that because the competition is putting a whole lap on them.

I guess that's definitive proof that the N8 pictures were real, as that phone says N8 in the top corner ;)

Interesting that the notifications are at the bottom now. Not sure how much I like that, though maybe a better theme will change what I think.

I just realized that this is coming from eldar murtazin...looks like we'll be seeing a preview of this on mobile-review in the near future!

I can also name 26736836 phones that have had no problems without lens covers. It's a cool feature but would bulk up the camera unit even more than it already is. Just be thankful they learned to separate the flash and the camera unit.

I was referring to the engadget article but I did look at the FCC filing. Knowing Nokia, its gona be launched on Sept 30th. Its still 3rd Qtr :D

Maybe I'm weird, but, I couldn't give a s**t about how the phone looks as long as it's got good hardware. I also couldn't give a s**t about S^3 as long as the bugs don't make the phone unusable. S^3 will be thrown to the pigs in a year anyway.

As long as Samsung don't ruin Nokia's party again, like they've done for the past two years, I'll be buying this N8.

Whoever it was that decided to put a Xenon flash in the N8 should be promoted; if it weren't for that flash, I wouldn't even be considering this phone.

Eldar didnt say much more than the os's is similar, and he didnt see much of a change but, what about ram, or processor speed or battery.
If i can get a 12mp xenon flash , high def video recording phone with nice ram and processor speed ill be happy, the n97 failed me because of ram and processor speed. :buddies:

I know. Not only have all of us been waiting so long for a new device (if we can't/won't use the N900), but so many people are already on the way out from using Nokia as their primary handset.

They have to know it's do or die time -

i dont think it will ever change unless some regulation (ahh that word, no!!!) steps in. the carriers are too rish and have too much control to just give it up without someone stepping in and making it happen.
