Have you received a new Smart Card from Bell?

According to the channel, 9200 PVR owners need the "V2" version of the software to make the swap work. I'm on V150. Has anyone downloaded V2 up to now?

Installed 2 cards last night (3100? & 9200). I woke-up to an 'invalid card for this receiver' error. Figuring the cards that were assigned to each receiver were swapped, I switched cards. Now they're both working fine. Is this something I should call Bell about?

Upgraded early yesterday morning (Tuesday). Receiver sat there doing nothing for rest of the day. No picture, no way to use PVR. Decided to leave it overnight. This morning everything working fine. Aside from new multimedia feature I can see no change in performance from before.

you would need that older card to upgrade the software to read the new card.

If you don't have that older card and don't have new E6XX software, PM me when you get the cards and we might be able to try something to upgrade the software.

How long will the older boxes 2700 etc. work with new encryption system.
Soon they will be asking us to buy new HD PVR or new Blue Ray boxes so they can charge customers more and they will blame it on the pirates.

Governments are killing off the off air direct VHF/UHF TV signals from TV stations so they can sell off the bandwidth (e.g. 700Mhz) to carriers Bell, Telus, etc (for cellular and other services) to get billions of dollars of revenue.

In turn the carriers will raise rates to cover this.

This will also force millions of people to subscribe to either cable or sat service if they want to watch TV.

ExpressVU/Rogers/Cogeco/Telus will then raise rates to subscribers to cover cost for additional satellites/transponders, etc.
They will also raise advertising rates because of the increase in the number of veiwer.

Advertiser will then increase the cost of their products to cover the additional expense.

Guess who pays.

People need to say enough is enough!

I inserted the new smartcard into my 9200 around 7-10 days ago and was running fine until yesterday when I got a 019 error saying the smartcard was inserted incorrectly. Tried reboot and power-off and pulling the card out and re-inserting it and no good. Called Bell technical support and they say they need to send a new card so no TV now for the next 4 days or so! :(

Man I wish I had a better option than Bell in Canada!!!

Every receiver model that I have used first hand will update the firmware with or without a smartcard in the slot.

I received my 2 cards 3100 and 4700 June 25.

If it was as easy as the last swap then it should be painless.

We havent' released 3500 software yet but plan to soon. Until that time, we won't send you card(s).

Reidw: we ship cards across all of Canada, I would be patient. We can't mail to every body right away.

Interesting, I wonder what encryption they will be using? hope whatever it is they can stop the piracy.

It looks like I may have been too hasty with the reboots. The receiver sits there for some time with an unregistered smartcard message. When it gets the resynchronization signal, the message changes to updating smartcard in progress. There must have been some delay in sending the signal.

Got mine yesterday.
2 - 9200's
1 - 3100
1 - 6000
1 - 5100

4 of 5 worked w/o issue. One needed a re-hit which was quickly resolved by calling the number on screen.

I borrowed a 9200 from my father to replace the one with the bad smart card but I'm now getting the nag message from Bell that I need to upgrade the smart card in it. Any idea when they will actually enforce this? Just needs to last until next Monday/Tuesday when I'll get my replacement smart card.

Howdy GoLeafs, nice nick!:D
I have heard that the new HD receivers (6141 & 9241) have the new card/chip embedded on the board, not the old card, that is going to be swapped
I could be wrong though...

I received my new cards last Friday...

I have 2X5900 + 1X9200 + 1X9242...

The paper that came with the card was clear that 6141 and 9242 did not require any card

I received 3 cards, 2 that matched the 5900 cards and one that matched the 9200 card
