Have you received a new Smart Card from Bell?

Since both units are now working correctly, I wouldn't bother worrying about it. You'd likely just be wasting your time. Obviously if this repeats or other problems occur the situation would likely warrant a call.

User name , password to log in to your account. Then the information on the cards / receivers your replacing with the new smart cards. Nothing to worry about this info is the same you've already provided as the account owner previously. That is if you are the account owner, the only people that need be concerned are those that aren't. Not a big deal at all for those not in this situation (LOL). Hope you get it straightened out as the instructions say all cards must be inserted prior to activating the new smart card(s) " step 4 in the instructions. Good luck reidw, if this is your situation. But, a little pre planning would probably accomplish this also.

He ain't optimistic about Nagra3...

Since the cutover to the cards hasn't completed, there is no way to prove that the pirate groups have cracked anything or the full extent of the new features has been used.

Phase 1. Get all the new cards out there.
Phase 2. Turn "off" the old cards/security that is cracked
Phase 3. Implement the new security features

Are they cracked? Maybe
Will they ever be cracked? Maybe

Partly depends on the market and the potential money involved.

These are of course topics for other threads.

Odd isn't it. Some people got the cards some didn't.

The software was updated but perhaps they've had issues have stopped the roll-out till its fixed?

I believe their using the Nagravision 3 protocol. Let's hope it's gonna last for good! I do have doubts about their success.:)

It included the 9200, which failed as well, so it is 50%.........LOL

And I do realize they probably only spend a couple bucks on the cards, due to the huge bulk buying they would do from the supplying company and it isn't cost effective to pay people to test them............just frustrating that I had a 50% failure rate.............I can see the 2700's being a pain as it is outdated technology, but the 9200 & 4100 shoulda been a breeze.........hehe.

I received mine (west coast) today for a 9200 (needs a card now) and a 3100. None for a 6141.
Took 5 minutes or less on phone. 1/2 hour later the 3100 came back on the 9200 took about 5 minutes. A good experience.

I have both of these machines. I was under the sssumption I did not need cards for these units. But I just got a call from bell asking me if my new cards had arrived yet. I told them no the new units do not need them. And he assured me they did, so he is sending me 4 new cards for my 3 6161's and 1 for my 9242. Whats up with that.

Hmm I have been reading lots of issues are going on with the swap, I really hope it works this time and they get it done asap.

The previous swap took 12-16+months to complete from the time the nagra 2 smart first started showing up in new receivers. Next you will start seeing certain tiers drop off (not viewable unless your nargra 3 card is inserted, first porn then ppv then hd etc.

I still haven't received mine - 9200 x 2, 9242, 5900, 5100, 3100. West Coast. Customer since 2002.
(Damn - how did I end up with so many receivers?!)

Considering Bell is in the process of changing ownership structure, I don't think BeV would embark on a
spending spree (new smart cards, new receivers, new satellites, etc.) unless this is approved by new owners...
There even was a rumour BeV might be spun off.

And a simple question "What happens if Nagra3 is hacked 3 months down the road?" should make them think hard.

Bottom line: don't expect fast paced changes.

Interesting experience here in the "Southern Provinces" I received my cards today and elected for the "online activation"! The 9200 and the 5900 machine activated and came to life I'd guess in 10 minutes. I needed to remove one or the other from the connecection to do the 6000 machine I've had removed from service for maybe two years and it came back to life with the programing to match the other cards/machines. Isn't this ODD? I hadn't seen anyone mention that in any previous posts. The only thing I saw mentioned was they had activated all of the machines.
It will be a short lived experience though, I believe my subscription ends the 30th or 31st of this month.

Got all four of mine. Two 3100s, one 4100, and one 5900. Had programming within 5 min of activating.

I got my card yesterday (I have a 9200 that doesn't currently have a card) and to an automated phone call today from Bell telling me to install it quickly.

I would suspect that the holiday might have caused some change in the Canada post schedule. They should arrive this week for those that received a reminder phone call.
