Have you received a new Smart Card from Bell?

LOL Nice Nick on you to..

Ya the 6141 and 9242 will either be sent with a new ICAM chip or sent with a new card, but I' m talking the old ICAM receivers that have the 102 chip in them. For anyone that has watched the Swap channel that is only available to pirated right now it says that all receivers excluding the 6141 and 9242 will be getting a new card whither you have a card in yours or not, so I guess that answers it.

You should keep that info to yourself, account sharing is a violation of Bell's customer service agreement. Such talk is not allowed here.

It seems i'm now losing channels on my receivers. I thought everything was fine, but I'm not getting channels 405 & 400 on at least 2 of my receivers (I haven't checked the 3rd one yet). Looks like I'm going to have to call AGAIN...I'm very tempted to just pack it in & switch to Rogers cable...

It was fine after the update for several days than one day it wouldn't turn on, displaying no signal on my TV...

After 2 days it was up and working again.

I've only done 1 of my receivers to test the water and sure enough the programming hasn't come back up.

9200
- confirmed correct card and inserted
- screen 357 came up
- activated online
- nothing after 5 hrs when I returned
- did soft reboot and then check switch
- downloaded program guide
- re-hit receiver activation online
- 30 min has passed and 95% of the channels are 'pink'

If I turn off the receiver over night - is it able to receive the program update?

Any suggestions on what to do other than get on the phone for 90 min?

PS: I realize the instructions said to do all the receivers at once but since the online activation allowed for single I did so. Is this the actual problem?

You've misunderstood me. I'm in no rush to get the new cards. Depending on the hassle that's going to be involved I might just say the heck with it and cancel my Expressvu account. I'm getting sick and tired of the customer being forced to "fix" a technical problems that aren't the customer's fault in the first place. If Bell has a security issue then it should be their problem. The customer should not have to do anything. They are not paying me a cent to do their work.

Similar case in point. Last summer BMO Mastercard sent me a new credit card with a new account number as part of their "fix" of the Winners security breach. It was then up to me, not BMO, to inform several companies of my new number as I had automatic charge arrangements with them. I no longer deal with BMO Mastercard.

No, but there are receivers which built in smartcard chips, which have a smartcard for future smartcard upgrades. I would hold on to any current smartcards and any new spare rom240's as they may be worth $$$ in the future.

I remember rom102's selling for $10-15 in early 2005 on ebay, by the late fall of 2005 some were selling for $250 a piece!

Funny as there is no mention of the Satillite piarcy on bell's website, the only explaination for the smartcard upgrades is "technological enhancements ".

I guess we now know what the $3 digital service fee introducded in January is for!

Very weird, I got mine back in Feb I think?!?!

They use to have that swap channel and everything... now nothing.

Very weird indeed.

I have two 6100's and received my cards about a month ago. Since we're a cell-phone only household both receivers do not (obviously) have phone lines running into them. Now, I understand that after I insert the cards I'm supposed to activate them online, so my somewhat long-winded question is, where does the activation come from? Do they insert a signal into the Satellite stream, or is it over the phone line? Anyone else have this kind of setup?

There is no hassel. If you have a bell account online "my bell" all you have to do is log in and press a few buttons.

Ringmaster - Just sit back and relax, the cards will come eventually. Don't be in a hurry. It could take months.

If I recall these receivers don't have cards

4100
5900(I think)
6100
9200(silver one)
9242(the black one)

these do I belie
1000
2700(1)(orginal version)
2700(2)(slightly modified version model of the 2700 simular to the 4100)
3100
3200(I think not sure)
3500
3700
4500
4700
5100
5200
5800
6000

When I had BEV and they did they first card exchange I remember you got a envolpe with your new smart cards in it.)this varied on how many receivers you had), each new card had the receivers info for each card so you knew which card went into ech receiver. You then had to call a 1-800 numbrer to activate each receiver. If I recall it took agood 15-30 mins to do your receivers(this varied on how many you had the more you had the longer it took. You where then told to destroy the old cards.

I never did still have them lasying aaround some where 5 or 6 of them I think.

TOM :)
