Don't answer that, lol.

This time it's personal.

Led Zeppelin- no, good music but they aren't a band I can listen to all the time.
Joy Division I've heard maybe 5 JD songs that I actually like, so no.
Elliott Smith- yes, me thinks he is still incredibly unapperciated.
The Beatles yes, timeless music.
King Crimson- It's a no, They don't need my help.
Wu-Tang Clan- yes, still nothing to **** with.
The Velvet Underground-I don't want to say no, but I don't care about them enough to go any other way.

Joy Division...Aerosmith? I don't see the connection at all. Both completely different banRAB in terms of genre, image and asthetic.

I haven't done that once. My original statement was that his music wasn't transcendent enough to make up for a short career. You incorrectly suggested that that same logic should apply to Led Zeppelin, Joy Division and Wu-Tang Clan. I pointed out that the subjective element "transcendent enough" means that the same logic can't apply, since I do view those groups as "transcendent enough."

I should have left it at that but, not realizing you were actually looking for a chance to whine and not for clarification, I clarified WHY I didn't see Smith as "transcendent enough," that he didn't stand out from the musical scene enough.

You decided, again incorrectly, to interpret "stand out from" as "be unique from," when I meant "stand out from" as "be superior than."

I hope this has cleared up the chain of events for you. If you're still angry and upset, I'm sorry. I still don't think Elliott Smith's music was transcendent enough to overcome a relatively short career. I still do think Led Zeppelin's music, Joy Division's music, Wu-Tang Clan's music (and Velvet Underground's music) were transcendent enough to overcome similarly short (or shorter) careers.

Well after counting the votes, i can confirm that the following artists are the first to be inducted into the Hall of Fame:

Joy Division
The Beatles
King Crimson
The Velvet Underground

The following failed to be inducted this time round

Led Zeppelin
Elliott Smith
Wu-Tang Clan

The Hall of Fame thread will be made soon, and the next nomination should be up tommorow. Feel free to rejoice or moan over the results in here!

they're not terrible, and they are seminal, i just don't care for old school beats, which is the prime reason i listen to hip-hop, also the delivery of wu-tang is boring (to me), though the lyrics are top notch

they probably deserve to be on the list more than any other hip hop group or artists, but i don't care for them, or "Hall of Fame" lists on forums in the first place

I really can't even understand your complaint here. You correctly stated my position:

"he didn't produce enough music and his music wasn't good enough given the length of his career."

Yet you seem to be completely missing the bolded part.

There's nothing hypocritical. Those "'several artists" were good enough given the length of their careers.

I don't understand what the confusion here is. There are two components: length of career and quality of the music. If one is smaller, the other must be higher, in order to be worthy.

Led Zeppelin, Joy Division and Wu-Tang Clan (the banRAB you highlighted) had far superior music to Elliott Smith, in my opinion. Therefore, they could get away with similar or shorter career lengths.

What's hypocritical about that?

Led Zeppelin - Nah, never like them.
Joy Division - No, horrifically overrated.

The Beatles - Yes, can't denie influence, blahblahablah
King Crimson - Never heard anyting by them.
Wu-Tang Clan - Yes, 36 Charabers is amazing, their are other hiphop artists i would put in though.
The Velvet Underground - No, not a fan.
Elliott Smith- No, not a fan.

Seriously, Elliott touched on many elements, you wouldn't even be able to tell it was the same person going from Heatmiser to Figure 8.
