Hall Of Fame: Induction Thread Number 1

i mean it took them that for what they did for me after i listened to shadowplay i loved joy division but i had to listen to almost all of aerosmiths discography before i figured out they were any good

Led Zeppelin - No, they're good but I don't listen to them at all anymore.
Joy Division - I'll say yes, because I have listened to a lot of their second album and some of their first and I like it a fair bit.
Elliott Smith - No
The Beatles - Yeah I guess.
King Crimson - Undecided
Wu-Tang Clan - Never fell in the love with their first album or the Hip Hop genre altogether, so no.
The Velvet Underground - Yes, because I still listen to them all the time.

Nope.
As far as write-ups go i was guessing the original write-ups for when they were nominated would be used, although if anyone wants to write something then i'll have no objection.

Okie dokie.

Led Zeppelin- No because they bore the arse off me.
Joy Division- Yes because those 2 albums are still eminently listenable.
Elliott Smith- No. His music does'nt touch me as much as other singer songwriters.
The Beatles- Yes. Made the odd good track ;)
King Crimson- Yes. A quality prog band that still are progressive.
Wu-Tang Clan-No. Does'nt matter how revered the album is, I prefer other Hip Hop by far.
The Velvet Underground-No. Don't listen to them enough. Influence does'nt neccessarily mean it should be inducted. A body of consistent work should be a factor too.

You've never heard anyone say "So-and-so makes superior music" or "So-and-so is a superior football player" as stand-alone statements?

If so, we come from highly different experiences. I've heard such things many times, and the comparison is obvious (to me) in context...superior to the competition as whole.

Led Zeppelin: Yes, stupid amount of influence and songs that don't get old.
Joy Division: Yes, minimalist music at it's best
Elliott Smith: Yes, An rab Hall of Fame wouldn't feel the same.
The Beatles: Yes, the ultimate pop band.
King Crimson: Yes, see Elliott Smith.
Wu-Tang Clan: Yes, my favourite Hip-Hop group.
The Velvet Underground: Yes, in WL/WH you can trace everything i'm into massively these days.

You don't have to say yes to them all ;)

Led Zeppelin -No, I just don't like them much.
Joy Division -No, Unkown Pleasures sucked, Closer was pretty good, Ian Curtis has to have the worst, most grating voice ever.
Elliott Smith -Yes, just a great, great songwriter.
The Beatles -Yes...I love them.
King Crimson -Yes, the depth and diversity of their discography is breathtaking.
Wu-Tang Clan -Yes, One of the most talented rap outfits ever.
The Velvet Underground-Yes, I love their sound, plus incredibly influential.

Led Zepplin- Yes, because they have such a soulful rock feel and it makes me want to go driving.
Joy Division- Yes, because they are super influential and pulled out all the stops to make their albums.
Elliot Smith- Yes, because his singing and songwriting is absolutely beautiful.
Beatles- Yes, cause come on, it's the ****ing beatles
King Crimson- No, because I don't take the time to listen to their music.
Wu Tang Clan- Yes, because they have amazing lyricism and beats and an edgy flow, add some straight G's such as ODB Ghostface Method Man and RZA? you can't beat that.
Velvet Underground- Yes, because they never made an album that didn't either blow me away or influence me in my music.

Led Zeppelin - No, they do not deserve to be in the hall of fame. I really don't understand why they get as much hype as they do. You want to put a blues rock artist in here then put Hendrix in.
Joy Division - Hell yes. Easily one of my favorite banRAB. Catchy riRAB, influential, passionate, and Ian Curtis's lyrics and voice make me shed a tear.
Elliott Smith - No. As much as I like him, he is not hall of fame material.
The Beatles - I shouldn't have to explain this...
King Crimson - TCOTCK is one of my favorite albums and I love Fripp. Probably the best prog band.
Wu-Tang Clan - Not really that good of a hip-hop band so no.
The Velvet Underground - Obvious influence on experimental music.

BTW, hopefully Frank Zappa was nominated. The guy freaking influenced the Beatles.

No, it's not. I said the music wasn't transcendent enough. Every one of those banRAB clears that qualification.

Elliott Smith's music was enjoyable, but didn't stand out from the music scene. He'd need a much longer career, in my opinion, to overcome that.
