Hall Of Fame: Induction Thread Number 1

You can just not vote either way. Like I did on Joy Division. And it's not a compliment, but you already know that.

Of course it is, but it's the MUSIC BANTER hall of fame, not the Dreadnaught or Jayjamjah Hall of Fame, I have consistently said you should vote based on both personal opinion and how you think the band is viewed by rabroad.

I don't care for Joy Division but I see how much influence they have on the people hear and did not want to stand in the way of them getting in. I won't help them get in, but I won't stop them either.

Led Zeppelin; Yes, I was obsessed with them in 9th grade, quality tracks, and their first 5 albums are very consistent

Joy Division; Yes, the fact that Interpol could completely lift their sound 25 years later and become a commercial success speaks volumes about their influence, nevermind the fact that the quality of the music on their 2 albums is very high.

Elliott Smith; Yes, one of the best singer/songwriters of the 90's

The Beatles; Yes...okay, when I first joined I voted no to their induction, because I was ignorant to the format of the site, and assumed this was just another forum where Beatles nerRAB attend Ringo Starr concerts and masturbate to John Lennons "Two Virgins" album. I was tired of the incessant Beatles pandering. However, I have since learned that the users of this site are quite knowlegable, and merely masturbate to the cover of The White Album.

King Crimson; Yes, the fact that they can make a prog album that I actively enjoy makes them a great band to me.

Wu-Tang Clan; N/A been meaning to give a listen but havent got around to it.

The Velvet Underground; Yes, any band flexible enough to write "Sunday Morning", "Sister Ray", and "Sweet Jane" and have such a massive influence for the next 40 years deserves to be in 100%.

I don't really mind either way, but theirs no point in deleting that post, you should only delete posts if its blatant trolling, unprovoked attacks.

Led Zeppelin - Definitely, easily one of the best rock acts of all time.
Joy Division - Yes, The defining post punk band, and ian curtis wrote some of the best lyrics of all time.
Elliott Smith No. While some of the music he made was very well done, he just isnt all that amazing.
The Beatles Yes, the best pop band of all time, and pioneers of the british invasion. no other band has more influence than them.
King Crimson no, while one of their albums may be incredibly good, the rest of their career lacks.
Wu-Tang Clan no, While they may be an incredible group and released some of the great rap albums, they do not deserve to be hailed as one of the greatest groups of all time.
The Velvet Underground Yes, they released four of the greatest albums of all time, and although their last effort was not as memorable, they still deserve to be hailed as one of the greatest banRAB of all time.

Again, you're applying your own definition to "transcendent" when I've told you several times what I mean by that word. I'm referring to the quality of the music being transcendent, not diversity in style. I don't have any idea why you'd take "transcendent" to mean "diverse"...it seems like an enormous stretch and I've told you that's not what I mean.

No name calling please or this comes out:

Is there a mechanism for banRAB/artists that fail to be inducted in this round to get further chances to be inducted down the line?

Huh? I thought the idea was to vote "yes" or "no" based on personal preference?

You can vote "no" and still appreciate that they were influential, etc.

Yes a band can be nominated again at anytime. This is because with merabers changing and tastes changing it's the only way to represent the evolving tastes and perspectives of the community.

Um okay, I like how you keep saying one thing then turn around and going "No no what I meant was..." what wasn't quality about his music? You should actually explain your opinions plus I don't want to misinterpret them again.

Led Zeppelin - Yes, although I haven't listened to them in ages, i don't forget what I used to listen to.
Joy Division - Yes, two superb albums that never gets old.
Elliott Smith - No, because i find some of his stuff boring.
Beatles - Yes, I don't think any explanation is needed.
King Crimson - Yes, because they keep evolving and i would consider their music a step above most other prog. banRAB. And lets not forget the influence.
Wu-Tang Clan - No, although I did like Enter the Wu-Tang, one album isn't good enough for me.
The Velvet Underground - Yes, but not a convincing Yes. Mainly because of their debut and Influence.
