Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger

Im gonna try and answer your questions to the best of my ability!

First off where this series is gonna take us is currently unknown, as seen throughout the HnJ series its not as simple as taking the next belt. Before the new series every animated HnJ related material has reached up to about 250 chapters (i believe). While this is an incredible amount, the manga currently has over 800 chapters out. So this series has about 550 chapters to work with.

About Ippo's shadow follower, you mean Gero-Michi right? To set this off, he IS in the manga so he is not FILLER MATERIAL and i shall put spoilers to what happened to him. Remeraber its YOUR choice to read the spoiler or not.

Gero-Michi moved to the area where Jason Ozuma lived at. So he joined the same boxing gym as Ozuma, i think Ozuma is gone at this point. Probably returned to America. After 2 years from leaving the Kamogawa gym, Gero-Michi returns as Hammer Nao; a 7th seed for Ippo's title, who he still holRAB after some title defenses. Naturally he challenges Ippo for the belt, and lost. He consider this match to be his *World Title Match* as he always admire Ippo and constantly try to catch up to him.

Also the dick jokes are very rampant throughout the series. Just gotta accept it and love it. Besides they are funny, so they served their purpose.

Episode 1:

Very impressed. The animation quality is somewhat different to the old 2002 version, but I can definitely adjust as the fighting scenes looks more pleasing to watch. They jumped straight into it, no recaps or fillers but straight into the plot. That's the sort of thing I'm looking for. They also made is subtly different than the Manga in events but generally the same in plot. This is also awesome as they didn't diverge from the main events (i.e. Rosario to Vampire) but didn't copy it word for word (i.e. Vampire Knight). Very good indeed.

The only qualm I have with this is Ippo's eyebrows are too long. It makes her look like a woman.

Yeah, Ippo knocked that dude out in grand fashion. Pretty impressive though his trainer was right. It was a split second away from a disaster.

I saw episode 20 and yeah....that was good stuff there. Seeing all of those boxers cheering Takamura on. And getting to see Date again...who said he would become a trainer. I think that's great...someone like him would make an excellent trainer.

They really did make Hawk out to be a monster. And not just a freak of nature but a freak as well. The one thing that bugged me was the female reporter getting baffled. In the first season of Ippo when she was introduced she was like this really fierce female reporter who never got razzled by anyone. And at the point where she asked the question they (all of Japan) already knew Hawk was a womanizer. So it shouldnt have shocked her or made her react the way it did. Beyond that, I thought it was all a great buildup.

So I watched episode 21 just now. Simply amazing....I love how much action and drama they always seem to come up with for each episode. This series is seriously one of the best paced I have ever watched in all my years. It's never boring.

Hawk is simply a beast. Since I haven't read the manga I sit on every punch with a sense of anticipation for not knowing what will happen. I suspect that Takamura is stronger than he's showing even now. Because he's also a beast....someone who has so much strength. It's insane seeing Hawk with such a ferocious counter to Takamura's best. So yeah, Im guessing Takamura will bring the pain and win this. Hoping....

I want to watch it but a part of me doesn't because I never got to even experience the original anime. I can't even find it in stores or a legit copy on ebay. To my dismay, I'll probably resort to the manga for a while and then start watching it where the anime picks up.

Im looking forward to this so much, im pretty new to the series and have been trying to get the episodes watched in time for this starting up again.

Miyata is my second favorite character in this series. It's tough watching him eat so much leather like he did that ep. That Bloody Cross really did a nuraber on him.

I only just watched the second ep.

Episode 21:

Damn, that is a lot of special effects. I love it; it is amazing the difference between still life drawings in Manga and it being Animated by a top animation company. I would love to see the next episode, it'll be the climax. I swear.

Yeah, amazon does carry it but the price people want for it is pretty high. I did see some copies there when I was looking for my copies last year. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of buying off of ebay and ended up with a bootleg. I looked for all of the tell tale signs and thought it was legit. They obviously lied. Oh well. ^^

I think the Sendou fights were some of the best in the series. I hope they bring him back.

I'm so happy this is a sequel. I'll get to watching it tonight!

It was NOT the climax! However it was awesome seeing Takamura brawl with Hawk. The cool thing is knowing that the old mans fighting skills he put so much effort into learning is good enough for the world stage. But I did enjoy seeing Takamura standing over Hawk the way he did.....that was vindication for all the provacative things Hawk did before the match. I haven't read the manga like I said...so Im really hoping that Takamura comes out with a win here and becomes the world champ. How cool would that be? ^^

excellent, finally some good news.

I seriously hope this is a sequel, as the first adaption was good enough in its our way. Sure the drawing wasn't all that great now, but back then it was the mainstream.

Oh and based off the picture, you see Itagaki (i think). Hes the newest meraber to the Gym, so chances are its a sequel. (VERY HIGH)

I've always looked on Amazon here and there. It always said they were out of stock and there were no used copies. I had given up quite a while ago and haven't recently checked. If there are available sets, I'll give it a go.

*laughs* I'm a lot like Makounoichi in that I'm a Miyata fanboy. XD I'll probably get to watching that tonight.

I noticed that some of these eps are slow to release.
